Help Needed for Game 6 of Finals

Help Needed for Game 6 of Finals

Postby doc x » Sun Apr 02, 2006 5:28 pm

I'm down 3 games to 2 in the finals. Right now I've got Kid Speer going up against Pete Alexander in game 6 tonight. If I get to game 7 I'll have Babe Adams on the mound against Knepper.

Even though he would be fatigued (having only 3 days rest), I'm tempted to move up Adams to go tonight against Pete. I've also considered putting the quick hook on Speer and limiting his innings so that my bullpen can get into the game (Garber, Tippy, McEnaney, and Worrell).

I could also go with Rommel as he is rested.

Game 6 (and 7 if there is one) will be in Forbes.

Any suggestions?

I didn't think you had the option of moving Babe up. I think others know better so don't take my word on it.

Assuming Babe started game 2, you could not select him as a starter for game 6. You [i:508ee6a193]could[/i:508ee6a193] use him in relief, though, and still use him as a starter in Game 7.

Rommell will probably fare better in Forbes.

Do NOT set Adams as the game 7 starter in the per game starter options and set him to setup and close both ways and hope he gets in the game early.

Thanks for the tips. I really appreciate it. I'm going to put Adams in the set up and closer roles for tonight.

I wouldn't have done that, plus it probably won't work.

Well, I lost game 6 as Alexander threw a 2 hit shutout at me. Rommel went 6 innings and gave up 4 runs. HAL brought in McEnaney who gave up 3 runs. Oh well.

Again, I really appreciate the suggestions you guys made. Perhaps PBTR was on to something as Adams never got into the game in spite of the fact that I made him set up and closer against righties and lefties.

Sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately, there was one other thing that came to mind after the fact. If Adams was listed in your rotation, HAL would not have brought him in.

I pulled Adams out of the set rotation in the hopes that he would get in the game as a reliever. But, when Pete holds you to two hits, that ain't gonna happen.
