Is Bowa worth $1M more than Crosetti?

Is Bowa worth $1M more than Crosetti?

Postby sschu » Fri Apr 07, 2006 9:37 am

There have been some threads on this topic previously, interested in some thoughts.

Bowa advantages:
14 vs 26 errors
17 vs 14 running
A vs B bunter
A vs B stealing
20% better card numbers

Crosetti advantages:
N power both ways
2 BPHRs
No injury risk, no backup needed on roster
$1M cash in hand which is like having Hughson over Bobo or Lolich over Cuellar.

As neither will do much to contribute to your offense, the $1M and no backup required would seem to take the day, why spend the $?

For me, it depends. I've had Bowa actually put up decent seasons, in the .260-.270 range. His speed and base stealing, along with his excellent defense can be very useful on a small ball team, where every run saved or scored can make a difference. So, pitching park team, I probably go for Bowa. Any hitting type team, it's probably Crosetti, between the two.

Using Bowa I have him BUNT MORE and HIT AND RUN MORE. He seems to put up better numbers for me.

Every penny and then some. Unless it is a hr-20 park.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did an analysis of my 15 Championship teams. Found some really surprising results.

The players with the most rings:
Wills! 7
Oz 6
Rose 5
Gardner 4
Cobb 4
Chance 4
Yaz 4
Snider 3
Morgan 3
Speaker 3
Ripper 3
Fox 3
Evers 3

Absent regulars: My favorite SS -Bowa (on at least 40 teams, including active), Clemente, Yount, Hornsby, Bishop.

Yes, I think he is. I've had him hit .270-.300 on a regular basis, something Crosetti could NEVER do even in Fenway '67. Plus, you get all the other advantages you mentioned.

I would take Bowa over Crosetti every time in every park.

Heck ... HAL picks Gallego over Bowa

Postby DizandMiles » Mon Apr 10, 2006 3:25 pm

Not according to HAL - Bowa sat while Gallego played SS when I turned my team over to HAL for a nighthttp://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/league/boxscore.html?group_id=31472&g_id=55 :D

Bowa sat, then was a defensive replacement, sat and then played RF!? and then pinch ran in game three

Imagine what HAL would do to Crosetti???
