I've given up my Cardinal theme teams with the consecutive last place finishes...now I have got some guys who I have seen/heard perform decently in this sim. Would appreciate some expert advice as to possible roster fill-ins, lineups, strategy etc. given home park is Sportsman's 46. Will I avoid the dreaded cellar? Many thanks!!

I have only played Fenway '46 once..........
You could free up some more $$ by dropping McClure, Jojo Moore, & Ford and picking up a cheap backup OF, a 1b backup for Chance( because he'll go down sometime, or at least he always does for me  ), and a .50 SP in place of McClure(like John Tudor, Al Nipper, etc). If you list that .50 SP in your Rotation along with your four * starters, that .50 pitcher will never pitch(or at least almost never). That and dropping Tunnell would give you around 3M to get good lefty in your bullpen.

I've seen and heard mostly good things about your hitters, except for Fernandez.

That's more strategy/budgeting than personnel advice really, and there are a lot more experienced managers than me who can give you more ideas.

Grindi and scchu put alot of teams together @ Sporty 46 . They should give you some pointers . :D I will try though . Mogridge could be downgraded to a McNally , Lolich , Knepper type . Even Brazle or Flanagan . Take that money and get a better hitting 2nd baseman . Your wasting some money on OF backups . Jojo is plenty , he plays all fields . take that money and shore up your pen some more.

Grindi and Munchenman and Randy (Juma) are the Sprotsman's guys, but here are some thoughts:

- the team is too RH

- look at how your SPs matchup in your division, a Polo team, an Ebbets team with Mantle and Ruth and a Y56 team loaded with LHs. Mayer, Covo and Mullin are good choices, but change one of them into a hard LH.

- suggest 4 RPs, Garber as CL, Lamp as mid relief, 1 cheapy for mopup and a setup type guy. You need a LH, not much out there, Lefferts is available

- JoJo is a waste of $$, get Edwards/Burke and they can platoon when JJ gets hurt.

- Doerr is a waste, get McDougald

- Campy is great, but he is too expensive for his injury risk, suggest Battey

- Not much on the wire for LHs, suggest Oliva/Kuntz in RF or if $$ are an issue get Devore.

- Consider Ripken for Concepcion at SS, I know this gives you a bit of a leaky middle infield, but slim pickins

Didn't add up the $$, but you can do much better. Does the $$ work with this?

Battey
Murray
McDoug
Weaver
Ripken
JJ
Dawson
Oliva/Rusty

Mayer (should pitch well)
McGregor or Key
Lonborg
4th SP, Sanderson?

Garber
Leff
Lamp
Mopper

Best of luck, sschu

I would start by downgrading Campenella to, if available, to Cochren, Manny, Beatty or Schalk. That would free up alot of money to upgrade probably SS first or even RF for a Valentine, Alou, I don't think Kiki will be there but he would be gold! I would look to better options than Mogridge in this park like, if available, Dean, Hughson, Grove, Lonborg even Pollett. For relievers, some guys that have been great for me are Beggs, Lown, Dayley, Jim Hughes. And I agree with downgrading J.Moore. I like J.Rivera. Great OF backup. My 2 cents.
