I've completed 4 ATG II seasons and did not make the playoffs and am finishing up a 5th season where I won't make the playoffs (though I may finish with a winning record for the first time). I also have not had a team finish with 100 losses though. Records so far, 65-97, 76-86, 75-87 (this team finished 8-22 over the last 30 games to tank 1st place), and 78-84. Should I just give up or have others taken awhile to make the playoffs as well?

I will offer to help a young geezer just as I did some old geezer :D :
I am offering to work with you from draft to league start with explanations as to whyI am reccommending what I am. There is never a guarentee of success as many of the intricacies of the game have been learned by many but avoiding common errors may improve your results. First we would have to figure out what kind of team you would rather manage: Hitting Balanced, pitching or varied from team to team, then work to tailor a teak to best take advantage of what you'd like.
Send me a PM if you are interested.

I'd not entertain anymore offers just yet. Ya know "too many cooks in the kitchen", and you just recieved an offer from one of the very best Chefs in ATG.
:) A very nice offer Charlie. :)
BTW if it's any consolation for ya, I didn't make the playoffs til my 6th ATG team. Won a Title with my 7th, and didn't even make the playoffs on my next 4.

Suck it up, son-in-law!!!!
Actually, charlie did the impossible and guided me to my one and only ring here. He is a wizard of a manager and I think if the nationals ever get rid of Frank Robinson, they should look into hiring charlie.
Take him up on the offer!!!

ATG 2 is a mature game, in fact nearly replaced by ATG 3. Most of the guys on here have been doing this for literally dozens of teams. I have not been in a league for some time now, including the autoleagues, in which the people in it are not largely wiley vets of the game. I have many runs of more than 5 consecutive teams which fail to make the playoffs. Do not get discouraged, try to analyze what went wrong, consult the guys on here, who are remarkably generous with their suggestions, and keep plugging away.

Way to keep the flame burning, Charlie!
Instruct him well in the ways, my son.

Accidentally made playoffs and won 1 ring 2 of my first 4 teams Then had 24 teams in a row finish under 500 and then came here and read the forums Ask questions an actually think I had a little to do with my 2nd ring by following advice I still lose more than I like but have had quite a few decent teams over last 6 months
