just curious of anyone's success or failures with snodgrass. and where have people batted him in the line up give his not so high obp and clutch hitting ability? seems he should be valuble in small ball parks with his speed, versatility and strong arm but i can't figure out how to use this guy.

He batted leadoff for this .500 team:

Batted some leadoff, but mostly 8th or 9th:

Hope that helps. Good luck!

I use Snodgrass on smallball teams with some frequency. I have used him as leadoff (with weak-hitting squads), but usually bat him 7th or 8th.

I tend to bat him in the lower third of the order, but he's no OBP slouch.

thanks for the pointers guys. it seems he's probably best suited at 7 on a decent hitting team or lead off and small ball team

Every time I have used him he has stunk no matter where I hit him. :( But every time I have seen him used in a league I am in by an opponent he has excelled. So what you need to do is sucker me in to joining a league with you and bat him leadoff.

Snodgrass is a supersub. I like to use him with strongly slanted hitters like Pepper Martin in platoons at third, or with guys like Deron Johnson at first. He has a decent outfield arm and can do double duty there, too. You can move him anywhere in the lineup and take advantage of other players' strengths.

Like Sam Crawford and Buck Weaver, he's just handy to have around.
