I'm entering a league where the avg. BPHR is 7. What types of hitters flourish in this type of league? It isn't all small ball. I would think high doubles, high avg, maybe 1bphr on each side of a card. Yount, Aaron, Alou-those types? My team is in a division with a Polo '36, a Dunn, and a Forbes. I'm in Three Rivers.

The best players are good anywhere. Aaron is a good example. However, the cheap ballpark hr. specialists like Oglivie, Roenicke etc. lose most of their value in a league such as yours.

Looking briefly at just catchers, I'd avoid Lance Parrish for example, in that league. Milt May too. Guys like Sanguillen and Battey gain more value. Other than that, let common sense dictate.

My own general -- and very general -- rule of thumb is to try to match the number of ballpark hr's on the hitters card with the park. Thus guys with 3-5 ballpark hr's on their cards seem like a good average to shoot for in Three Rivers.

Generally, deadball guys can be used anywhere. Fill up with deadball guys and get a lefty and a righty home run hitter and you'll be all set!

I've played in Comiskey 59 a lot (bphr 6) in a keeper league. Two good value power hitters for me, year in and year out, have been Ennis and Money. They're not too ballpark-dependent for their power, so they'll hit at home and on the road--pretty much in any park. And reasonably priced. Always give me 30-35 hrs and 100+ rbis.

For pitchers, Mayer and Pollett are two of my favorites in your kind of park. Demaree is a nice value too, most of the time. Leever is also good in a neutral park; pair him with someone like Pleis or Speer as your 4th SP.
