Two of my favroites seasons from hitters:

Mantle with Triple Crown at Muni
AB 580
R 168
2B 19
HR 70
RBI 181
BB 134
BA .371
SLG .797
OBP .488

Stargell at Y56
AB 581
R 137
2B 22
HR 82  (was on 95 HR pace, but faded/normalized in the last week)
RBI 180
BB 85
BA .287
SLG .752
OBP .388

Probably others with bigger numbers, but Willie Stargell? :) The couple of times I have used him he always seems to have a boat load of RBIs.

Others that come to mind, Cobb hit .422, Pete with 28 wins, Bob Miller with 53 saves.

Stargell faded?

Postby JohnnyBlazers » Mon Jun 05, 2006 10:21 am

How can he fade and be normalized after hitting 82 dingers? Some of these numbers are out of whack for sure. I think this argument has been made before, but with ATG III coming out, refinements could be made to the BPHR formulas IMHO. Stargell's dingers came at Yankee Stadium, LH hitters have an advantage for sure with the 1-19 BPHR for lefties, but if you really think about that, the advantage is if the hitter pulls the ball down the line for the cheapie .302 ft hr.-HAL is not making a case for a pitcher not giving anything to a LH hitter on the inner-half to pull. Surely a
better program can be run!
