Gearing up for the Semi-Finals

Hello Barnstormers players.

Event 6 just concluded its regular season last night and for many of you, the playoffs will get started on Monday.

This means that the process begins to figure out which players get the bye for Top 9, and which players get eliminated from further competition by being lower than our last semifinal position at 45. Check to see where you stand right now at the main Barnstormers 2011 Standings page at:

Positions 1-9 will get an automatic bye directly to the Barnstormers Final league.

Positions 10-45 will get randomized into three leagues and do a 16-round live draft on Diamond Dope. For the semi-finals, all players can use any stadium they want (no group restrictions) but you will have to draft your stadium as one of your 16 round picks.

For those of you that are lower than 45th place (and that includes me), I’d like to thank you for your participation in the Barnstormers 2011 tour and I hope to see you back in the spring for the next version of the tournament.

Keep in mind that my loyal assistant Mr. Baseball World and I are combing through all of the possibilities of the Event #6 playoffs to try to figure out who will place where. Due to this, the forming of the semi-finals leagues will be delayed by AT LEAST a week until all playoff winners are finalized. This will be December 12th at the earliest so I am declaring a start to the live draft to start right around Wed Dec 14th. Those involved will be notified by e-mail.

If you are solidly in the group that will be in the semi-final round but will either be unable or unwilling to participate in the semi-finals, please let me know as soon as possible so that your spot can be given to the next in line.

A little preliminary information on the state of the semi-finals.

The tie for 9th appears to go all the way to use tiebreaker rule #4, most wins and I am counting all 6 seasons for this. Wouldn’t matter, same result even if I tossed out low season to figure most wins.

They both tied on rule #1 – they both won 1 championship.
They both tied on rule #2 – they both made 2 finals.
They both tied on rule #3 – they both made it to the playoffs 4 times.

Rule #4 most wins – drfreeze has 525 / Mr. Regulator has 524.

Currently, three players are tied for the final 45 spot. coachteel, wrz25 and Muadib1950. The first two will take spots 44 and 45. Muadib1950 will lose on a heartbreaker. coachteel and wrz25 both won a championship during the tournament, [b:0c73962849]Muadib1950 did NOT[/b:0c73962849]. Sorry.

I will wait a few more days for the rest of the playoffs for event #6 to conclude and the semi's will start next week. But I dont see any of the playoff game left to play will affect the 36 participants that will gain the semi-finals.

Muadib1950 will be first alternate if any of the 36 semi-finalist are unwilling or are unreachable to live draft their semifinal team.

We are still in a holding pattern waiting until the event 6 playoffs conclude. Another day or two. :o

Both MrBBW and I overlooked that miduar could vault himself from a few spots below 45 all the way up to a 42nd place TIE with his [b:4104a7d9cc]World Series win in Event #6. [/b:4104a7d9cc] This means that another player got bumped out of the final spot.

The three way tie for the final 45th spot will go to wrz25 who wins based on overall wins, tiebreaker rule #4.

Muadib1950 previously eliminated due to no championships won.

wrz25 and coachteel tied on Championships won (1), Finals Made (1) and Playoffs Made (1). Overall wins - wrz25 (485) - coachteel (475).

The Final 36 that will gain the Semi-Finals are therefore:

Congrats to all on making the semis. The semis promise to be fun and should be great competition.

Thanks again to Mighty Moose and all those who assisted him for all the time and hard work they put into making Barnstormers a success.

Most of us are aware that 20 more ATG cards will be released today. Does anyone know if there is a timetable for when the cards will be posted on Dimond Dope and whether those cards will be available on Diamond Dope for the draft? If the cards are not available on DD for the draft, but are available in the autodraft, will they be eligible for use in our league? What happens if we start the DD draft and the cards are unavailable, but they become available during the DD draft?
