2008 Tour Top 75 - Final

the official tournament of SOM Baseball 20xx

new leader board

Postby doktorhendor » Wed Oct 22, 2008 2:41 pm

I am confused. I did not have any penalties, and my Event 4, League 1, team won 84 games and my Event 4, League 7, team won 95 games (lost in Semis), but am not listed in the top 75. Teepack, via email response to my SportingNews.com private message date 08-12-08, said that I could play two Event 4 teams to make up for the fact that I didn't play teams in Events 1 and 2. I am currently in Event 3, League 9, Event 5, League2AL2, and Event 6, League 1. Hopefully, I was not dropped from the competition. I would not have spent the $$ to be in the other events had Teepack not said that I could play to Event 4 teams.

Please let me know.

doctorhendor: You're not in the standings because, per the posted rules, you can't complete the required minimum 5 events. I'm not a tournament "official" so I don't know anything about private exceptions made by Teepack.

I'm not doubting you, but it does seem this might have been done "publicly" so everybody would know and others in your shoes would have an equal shot...? Does this mean anyone who didn't meet the posted entry deadline or can't otherwise complete 5 events can now count two Event 6 leagues to meet the requirement...? Seems like a lot of folks might have been happy to double-up on their favorite events, if that's allowed...? If you make the cut for the semi-final 36, what about the guy who meets all the posted rules and finishes 37th...?

Anyhow, if Teepack will post a clarification and make this all official and public (also post if he's made other "private" exceptions), I'll amend the standings as needed. Tee?

teepack

I understand your concern. That is why I asked Teepack for clarification in August. If he had said "no," then I wouldn't have purchased a five pack and joined the other events, as (1) I didn't need to pay for and play additional events; and (2) my subsequent involvement in other events may have been to the detriment of those playing. I'll play an Event 1 or 2 season with others in same boat, if possible.

i shouldn't qualify

Take me out (2 event 4's), instead of a 1 or 2. Keep tourney integrity.

As I said earlier, I am available for an Event 1 or 2 if anyone else is.

Thanks Doc! I'm sympathetic, and appreciate your decision.

IMHO, it closes a potentially unpleasant can of worms, is highly commendable, and you deserve a pat on the back from all of us for outstanding sportsmanship!

If it's any consolation, I couldn't qualify for the Tour after missing a couple of early events last year...but bought a couple of "filler" teams, still great competition, and even fillers can have an impact on the tournament.

Will remove you from standings as requested, hope this doesn't discourage future participation.
