If you have a couple minutes, read it and remember it was posted in the Sports Illustrated Magazine with pictures and everything.
There wasn't any reason at the time not to believe it....especially because Dwight Gooden was pitching for the Mets at the time as well.
You have to put yourself in the mindset we had at the time....there was no internet....no computers (like we have today), all we had were newspapers, week-end sports shows (no SportsCenter) because most of the country didn't even have cable TV. At least Mizzou didn't have it at the time.
So our information about Spring Training and scores were either on the Sports segment on Local news, or listening to games on the radio or Game of the Week on Saturday.....It was a different time.
The Story wouldn't have a chance in today's world, but back then.....22 years ago....it was a phenomenon.....completely took country by storm.

You should know J-Pav, that I am always in a hurry to get my teams in only to have my hopes and dreams crushed.
This tour thing is not being kind to me at all. :x :roll:
I think it must be Hal ganging up on me because it sure couldn't have anything to do with skills as a manager :roll: :roll:

I feel your pain.
This was the most prepared I've been for a tour draft, but HAL just hated the life out of my first team. I was down like 10 pythag wins at one point, but managed to make up some ground and cut it to six at the very end. I'm out of the hunt for Event 1, but I'm still being mocked by HAL, who has me down as tied for the pythag wildcard on the penultimate day.
Hopefully things will get better for the both of us down the road!
