Postby rgimbel » Fri Sep 15, 2006 10:27 am

and sykes I am not blaming you or crimton for making the honest mistakes. Som will collect up to 30k for this tour and they dont bother to make sure that it is being run correctly.

And what the heck is this crap about a knife to a gunfight?

[quote:d59080117c]I never said it was teepacks job to check the rosters that was said by others and I completly understand that mistakes happen. but there are twelve players in each league and all you need is one dillegent person in each league to check. [/quote:d59080117c]

...otherwise known as the LC...

[quote:d59080117c][b:d59080117c]When one jackass dumps his team before restitution is decided upon, it shows lack of common sense and consideration for 10 other owners in the league AND directly impacts the overall standings of the entire tour. [/b:d59080117c][/quote:d59080117c]

Word.

If the rules and consequences were posted and clear, I bet Stains wouldn't be this upset. I've said it over and over again- [b:d59080117c]the Tour needs to work on it's rules and STATE THEM, publicly, for all to see[/b:d59080117c]. Something like this happens at least once per year and yet you guys ignored my offer to help. There's always going to be a pbtr or a Stains who doesn't feel justice has been done and is willing to make a huge ruckus, verbal or otherwise.

The offer is again extended for this off season that [b:d59080117c]I would be happy to help clarify and write whatever rules that the "board" has decided to approve[/b:d59080117c]. I'm sure it will be shunned again and so as always ruling will be squarely in the lap of the commish who will continue to use such terms as "a respected member of the community" before passing judgement.

And if that happens I will continue not to play. Not that it matters to any of you- even though the result is that a manager with one of the best winning percentages in Strat is not involved in the "official" tournament of SOM...

By the way nobody has discussed what the punishment should be for Stains dumping all his players. Obviously it should be much, much more severe than the punishment for whatever accident Minton made.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

This thread has totaly gotten off topic.

I sent it out to point out that one player compromised the integrity of the league he was in. Not to debate on teepack's ruling or to have the rules re-written or to make someone check every roster.

The fact of the matter is we had a error made, a ruling given and a childish and unacceptable reaction to the ruling.

It is the childish and unacceptable reaction that got this thread going.

It was being delt with in house until 10PM a few nights ago when gstains let his crap roster go past the deadline. We tried to reason with him and if he fixed his roster before the 10PM deadline....this message would not have been posted.

I still think he should be booted from the tour. However, if teepack wants to let him back in, I am not going to quit or get mad or anything like what gstains did.

I know this is for fun but I will personally never be in a league with gstains again. I know a lot of you feel the same way and the rest of you should watch out also.

It was meant to guard the rest of you from signing up with this kid and having something similar happen in your league.

Good luck to all and I hope to see most of you in a league soon.

I 100% agree with woody that gtanis reaction was childish uncalled for and he should be booted from the tour.
but you opened up a can of worms, he has a legitimate beef. he along with the 11 others were wronged and not by crimton but by the tour itself.
Rules should be stated more clearly and safeguards should be put into place. Som is using a free draft site a free volunteer and doesnt put the effort into making sure it is being run correctly.

Having a guy for half the season is wrong. I remember some managers that are respected when making mistakes before have not only dropped the player, but also their best player on their team to make sure they wouldn't win, but would still be competetive. What he did was wrong, and though I don't think the punishment was harsh enough, it's not like nothing was done.

On the other hand, we have a guy who tanked his entire team. Why is there no rules about this in the tour, because it's already in TSN's rules

[quote:517bf03d3e]Fair Play policy

Please be respectful of your league-mates throughout the season so that all may have a pleasant environment in which to play. The following behavior will not be tolerated:

* [b:517bf03d3e]Tanking. You may not intentionally throw games, under any circumstances.[/b:517bf03d3e]
* Collusion. You may not conspire with another manager, by making trades or by changing your team settings when playing against that team, to achieve any sort of anti-competitive goal, e.g. to help a team win, or to gang up on another team.
* Offensive language. You may not communicate with other managers in a manner that they could find offensive.

If you violate any of the above rules, at our discretion, SportingNews.com will seize control of your team and you will not be eligible for a refund. Repeat offenses will result in a ban from ever playing the game again. [/quote:517bf03d3e]

Pretty simple, one was a mistake, should have been punished harsher, but the other was a straight up violation of TSN policy, and if he doesn't fix his team, report it to Bernie so he can take it over and fix it. gstains should be banned for his reaction.

sorry to be posting so much but.....
this group is filled with some great guys like jeep, pelzer, he's meat and many others who create well thought out theme leagues with intricate rules and they make them work. They dont have problems and if they do they fix em. that is all that we ask it is not a lot.

Postby rgimbel » Fri Sep 15, 2006 11:06 am

dont know why I am obssesed with this but another thing bugs me.
The Pujols comment. How could a decision be based on the value of the illegal player, make a hard and fast rule and everyone has to stick with it before they join.

You are blinded

Woody,

You choose to make it out like I spoiled the league by dumping for 3 games but you fail to accept the fact that playing 81 games with an illegal player has had an effect on 81 games in this league. I pointed out that in just two games against me in the first week Lopez made a difference in the game. Maybe I should dig further and see how many games Lopez effected the outcome. I'm sure a .300 hitter on pace for 100 RBI's effected a lot more than you would like to admit.

But you fail to accept that.

Regardless of what I did the league was tarnished and its results were tarnished 81 games ago. Once you accept this maybe we can reason but all you keep saying is that it was an innocent mistake to not make sure you were playing within the rules of the league. How do you know? You don't, so stop the crap.

The last time I checked I have not broken any rules. So regardless of how you feel, which means nothing to me, go take a walk.

You keep saying I ruined the league. That's crap, the league is worthless and has been since Lopez appeared in the line-up 81 games ago. Regardless of who I played when they dumped they were al AL players. Which is more than I can say for some. Let it go man. Just hope you hold on in the east.

Well....gsatins intentionally tanked 3 games.

There are rules in place addressins that specific issue.

I think the decision is simple!
