2008 Player's Championship Sign-up Thread

As a 1st. timer to this championship, I have 1 question...

What do we do now?

We will start filling the Round 1 leagues now. This is a standard $80 mil, autodraft, with the 20 percent drop penalty. There is no unique stadium requirement in this round. Go to a sign-up thread and put your name down for a league and then get your team ready. When the league fills up, one manager will create the league and then PM the password to the other managers. Each manager will then join as soon as his team is ready and the league will start play when all managers have put their teams in.

Ok, but where are these tour league signup threads, under league directories? Where do I go?

36 of 57 teams make the playoffs?

I am not crazy about this year's format. Am I alone? It has always been a great achievement to make the finals. Now it is an utter failure not to make the tour "playoffs"

Relax, James. We'll have more than 57 sign up. We haven't even marketed it yet and already are more than halfway to 100.

Plus, if we don't get that many entries, we'll limit the semifinals to the top 24, because we do want it to be an accomplishment to get there.

I agree with Tee, and I like the new format.

But, I also think we need to stick closer to the posted schedule this year, and cut way back on the "late" leagues. IMHO, the tour started too late last year (much later than the previous year). Dragging things out further with all the "late" leagues, by the time the champs league was underway, the new cards were coming out and most folks had lost interest in the tour. Here we are well into the new season, even starting the new tour, and last year's tour is still not complete...another 2 weeks before last year's champ is crowned.

It's starting even later this year. With the addition of the "semifinal" leagues, there are just as many "events" to complete this year, even with dropping the final live draft.

So, very likely the champions league will start even later this time around, probably long after next year's cards come out, unless we stick to a much tighter schedule.
