Event 3, League 8 Sign-ups - LIVE DRAFT!

the official tournament of SOM Baseball 20xx

Yup. The LC or Teepack are the only folks Doug permits to correspond with him re: The Site, and we should honor that, so will just have to be patient--til TSN finishes their own live draft tool, which Bernie had on his plate along with a million other things at the beginning of 2006.

Live drafts are capital F U N in so many ways.

Cheers

Well on the bright side - at least it happened during a holiday weekend when not much drafting was expected to occur. Hopefully the site will be up and running by Tuesday/Wednesday. :)

Just out of curiosity, I'd like to check out the beta draft site that Bernie was supposed to be working on the last couple of months. Does anybody have a link they can post?

IMB--I have no idea what the status is on it.
For now, Teepack responded on another thread:
http://forums-beta.sportingnews.com/viewtopic.php?t=95824

Folks are free to continue as they see fit for now. Should be more to follow.
In the meantime AP, I'm game for anything. I think waiting on the whims of one guy who despises that TSN has made the Tour "official", and who now is not that active anymore, is silly.

I'd expect there would be continued site issues the rest of the way even if it happens to come up this week.

I'm in no particular rush, but maybe we could set a sundown date for scrapping using the site if it doesn't come up, and then if it comes up but goes down a second time we scrap it as well at that time?

Any other options worth considering?
- scrap using the site effectively dd mmm and resume with a live draft on the boards for a lesser number of rounds
- scrap using it effectively dd mmm and resume with an autodraft, keeping players we drafted through round 1.
- scrap using it effectively dd mmm and resume with a live draft on the boards where we draft a few rounds worth of core players at a specified time interactively with a short clock and autodraft the rest

cheers

Reminder - clock to begin in T minus 17 Hrs :D

penngray, when notified, acts ASAP on his site issues.....ESPECIALLY when the e-mail come from ME.

....he had been traveling and e-mailed me back even before he unpacked his suit cases.

I'm not saying penn is at issue, I'm saying he really has no incentive when TSN stands to gain and he does it gratis--that's my only point.

penngray hasn't gained anything for years when he did play - he does this for the guys on the boards.

....but I digress.

Seems Ado is AWOL and his time is just about up. The rules are ambiguous as to what to do when a manager is skipped 2X. Reading the rules my take is that it's NOT mandatory stop the draft but was instituted for those rare occassions when we feel the owner/manager has long-term issues or simply will be gone for an indefinite period (or permanatly).

[quote:5b131ab0df]Stopping the draft: If a manager is skipped for a second time, the league may choose to halt the draft until it determines if the manager is going to be able to continue.[/quote:5b131ab0df]

Since his picks are soooo close together it's hard to tell.

As league LC I'm going to let this ride. He had a choice to put in proxies, like the rest of us. However, if it goes thru round 5 and he doesn't show then I'll halt the draft at that time......don't really think it's fair that one owner is 2 picks behind another.

However, I'm 1 of 12 here if someone feels strongly to stop.
