[quote:bfa3613679]BTW Steve, I saw my Friend Casey (caseybats) last week and we were going over her team and this league and as soon as she saw you kicking some good ball in the league she jumped up. She was very happy, apparently you were "the nicest guy" -to use her words- after sweeping her in the finals of her first team.[/quote:bfa3613679]

Two questions for her:

Is she single and does she want to come to Australia?

Crawford

Postby stevep107 » Thu Mar 01, 2007 6:19 pm

Have to disagree with spicki on this one.

Crawford is putting up some phenomenal numbers in this league but I don't expect it to continue. What I do like about him though:

-awesome defence
-awesome speed
-awesome power against RHP

His weaknesses are that he can't hit LHP and his OBP is not great. However, against RHP, he is the best leadoff hitter in the set, in my opinion.

Cheers,
Steve

awesome defense - but its in LF. that counts for almost nothing.
awesome v righties - this league is lefty pitcher loaded

then you say that he has awesome power against RHP and he is the best leadoff hitter in the set? isnt leadoff all about OBP? do you really try and stick a great power hitter at 1? i understand the argument of great speed at leadoff, but great power at leadoff...thats a new one.

If that is true, try putting a '5' OF in LF and see what it does to your W-L record.

Even though this league has more LH pitching than normal, your team will still face far more RH pitching than LH.

Who are some of the great leadoff hitters of all time?

Rickey Henderson was probably the greatest. Did he have power? Yup.

Johnny Damon is also a great leadoff hitter who comes to mind - and yes, he has power. Devon White was also great and he had power too.

It isn't the home run power that makes Crawford great, it is the number of doubles and triples that he hits. When combined with his great speed, this makes him an excellent leadoff hitter.

I agree that his OBP could be better (only .348) but his batting average against RH pitching is .326. His slugging percentage against RH pitching is .530.

My season series vs. Maligned and Marcus Wilby are done.

Vs. Mal's Perdedores we eked out a 7-5 series win.

Vs. M.W's Poutine we lost the series 4-8. About half the games were decided by one run so I could've just as easily ended with a 6-6 series split ...or with being swept.

Good luck y'all

The Davis era has ended at Coors -

Let's see if an added arm in the bullpen does anything for my arson squad.

RIP Davis.

Your team went 7-22 behind his arm. So you played .500 without him.
