Riggo,

my ratings haven't changed!! Jeter and Helton still appear as players not worth their pricetags. But, I didn't realize that you were the team that grabbed the most 'best values' among us. Castillo, Crawford, Youkilis and Sweeney (four of your starters) are among the top 50 values in low-hitting parks, according to my ratings--you have five of them actually, with sub Gomez on the bench. Add to this roster superior values like Hudson, Clark (perhaps the steal of the draft, at the 12th round or so) and Wilkerson, and you end up with 7 superior values in your starting line-up. That easily compensates for Helton and Jeter overpriced tags.

As for your pitching, overall you don't have any superior values, except perhaps Izzy, but your rotation is perfectly fit for your need, contrary to your divisional rivals who have too little pitching (cristano1), or too much relief (etdefender), or who rely too much on cheap relief (woods). In other words, you have the best pitching structure of the league so far (I still have the West to check).

[b:cb8c96527f]luckyman [/b:cb8c96527f]-- do your ratings say that i should have the 2nd best ERA and 2nd least runs scored in the league?

Well, the one thing I can tell you is that it costs you to go without a "real " leadoff and with a rather neutral stadium----I know you didn't have much choice given that you had already picked all the hitter stadiums, but clearly, you would be dominating the league if you played in Coors instead of Skydome.

i agree that my park isnt ideal, but like you said, i really had no choice at this point. i dont understand though what you mean by no real leadoff hitter.

chavez is a top 5 leadoff hitter in the game...hes always about 380 obp and like 450+ slg, with high gidp's (at least vs righties), so to me that is an ideal leadoff hitter. i dont see how leading off something like pierre/walker is any better than leading off chavez.

also, it still doesnt explain how my team is like a 310/410 overall right now. and, comparatively speaking, i have larger lumber than anyone in the league, so with everyone playing in relatively small parks (besides my bro and i), this team should be in the top 3 for offensive production.

wow, I certainly disagree with your claim that Chavez is in the top 5!!!

He's barely in the top 100, for christ sake!!

Actually, you have a real lead-off vs rhp in Davanon (top 20, once we removed the obvious sluggers), and I am forced to recognize that Chavez is among the top 40 lead-off vs lhp. So overall, you do have a real duo...problem is that, of course, Davanon is not leading off!!

But if we consider only the combined cards, then Chavez is far away from being a good lead-off.

I am not sure if I'd like to get into the details why Chavez is a bad move at the first spot. I like it this way

Of course, perhaps you will win with Chavez as lead-off anyway, given the strength of your team, and the fact that line-up spots have a limited impact only. But I certainly disagree with his value at lead-off.

..to be continue after the playoffs, I guess. :P

chavez - 46 obp chances, 51 tb, 23 gidps, 8 bphrs vs righties
- 53 obp chances, 51 tb, 12 gidps, 6 bphrs vs left

against the lefty/righty breakdown i will face in this league, with all ballparks included, that makes chavez a 403/517 against left, and a 382/554 againt righties.

now if you take out all the big bears that need to bat in the 3-5 slots, the following things become obvious:

- chavez is far and away the best 2 hitter vs lefties in the league. now i must unfortunately bat him 1 since i have no other leadoff hitter, but vtek 2 is nice.

- chavez is a top 5 leadoff hitter in the game vs both righties or lefties. his 23 gidps vs rights require him to bat 1, whereas davanon has 5 and is a perfect 2 hitter.

- although his numbers are gaudy in TB, it is ok because my team is so huge (although not performing to that huge-ity -- if that is a word).

thus, chavez is a top 5 leadoff hitter in the game (no question), and thus my team is fine in the 1-2 spots against both sides.

nice attempt at an argument though.

hey, spicki, I didn't argue at all, how can you say "nice attempt" ?

I stated that Chavez wasn't close from being a top75 lead-off, but I didn't put any argument out there...

There is a big flaw--two, actually--- in your last message; I let other owners discover it if they ever want to help you...
