Sac Yanks picked

Postby PAULMINICUCCI » Mon Sep 25, 2006 12:52 pm

Just to let everyone know, Jake's time was up according to the post I believe Assmeriten made and the clock so I made a manual pick to get it moving again. I hope that's okay with everyone but Jake was 3 and i/2 hours on the clock according to the draft site.

Coffee and Jake are up

Careful on the skips boys!

SacYanks, you were justified in skipping Jake this afternoon.

However, as a rule of thumb, we really shouldn't skip someone twice in succession!

I know some of you are impatient with the pace, but more important than the pace is maintaining the integrity of this draft.

Jake may not have computer access right now, and his proxies may not be keeping up (we've rifled through some rounds very quickly).

Fillies, please do not skip him for the second time, thus leaving him 2 rounds behind.

And Remember...

The clock should be "off" from like 11:00pm eastern to 9:00am eastern, so don't skip anyone in the middle of the night!

Well, he has till 4:40 PM EST to make his pick, there's no disputing that. If he fails to do that, I personally don't see a problem skipping him again at that point -- he will in fact have missed two separate deadlines. But I'm not insistent about it or anything. Hopefully he will make his picks before that time and the point will be moot.

I feel you're under-estimating everyone's patience here. We have been more than patient and haven't ridiculed (or hurried) anyone, even after zero picks yesterday. There's been only 1 skip in the entire draft and it was most legitimate.

Obviously this group is well versed in Draft Rules to not skip anyone unnecessarily, especially "in the middle of the night".

Thanks 8)

Now for the second skip, that's debatable how that should be handled, personally everyone knows the rules up front is my take, but I won't object if we wait...but that will bring up another issue, how [i:fbe74bf621]long[/i:fbe74bf621] do we wait?

If it was up to me....

I'd take into account the fact that not everyone has accsess at work. All his proxies may have been picked (at the speed were going It's veruy understandable.)

I'd give him until about 7:00 or so EDT.

Just my opinion.

how about a compromise

Postby PAULMINICUCCI » Mon Sep 25, 2006 2:39 pm

How about adopting a five hour rule for the second (or third) skip. That is in this case Fillies would wait five hours from the last pick before he skips Jake again. This is a long time to wait but it gives someone a chance to get back in touch. It would mean that a person would have to be out of touch for at least 8 or so hours before they would get skipped twice.

It's either that or adopt a don't skip twice rule. Shall we vote gentlemen?
I am doing this because believe ot or not it is stressful being in a position to have to make that decision. Neither Fillies or I want to have to make this decision off the cuff. So if we can get a sense of where we are it would be less stressful.

Thanks.

I don't mind the 5 hour rule on a second skip, but I think a don't skip kind of defeats the purpose.

Once again, just my opinion.

(All that being said, I've never had a draft make it to the 12th round this quickly.)
