Neither of those teams had the best record in baseball. Boston didn't even win their division

Yea, I think cristano's not making his point here. Very few people would argue that the Red Sox were the best team in all of baseball in 2004. They just got hot at the right time (and in the nick of time, too, might I add). I do think an argument can be made that the White Sox were the best team this year, but others would argue for the Cardinals, who won one more game during the regular season than the White Sox.

And then again, I would have coached DIFFERENTLY if we had decided that the team with the best win-record during the first six seasons, or with the best RA/RS record, would win the title. There are players I would have not drafted. There are stadiums I would have not tried. There are bullpen set-up I wouldn't have tried. There are players I would not have benched. Etc, etc.

I tried different things in order to prepare myself for the last round that I would have not tried if we were playing under different rules.

We said that the team winning the last season would win the title.

Anything else is just a false debate.

marcus wilby-
no ones arguing the validity of the statement "the person who wins the final league is the overall champion"...im thinking that every single one of the guys playing in the tour realizes this...the argument (mine anyway) is:
events that reward luck and discount skill (ie winner of final league wins it all instead of just accumulating the final league into overall results) are bs...
id expect u out of all people to be arguing on the skill side rather than the luck side...but then again, u are the luckyman...

Don't worry. We aren't going to go to any winning percentage formula or runs scored/runs allowed formula. Standings will continue to be based on number of wins, and points will still be awarded to postseason participants. We may revise the bonus points, but I doubt we will eliminate them. After all, winning championships is what sports is all about. It's not about making the playoffs or having a winning record or scoring more than your opponent over a long season. The team who stands last is the champion, and he/she should be rewarded.

Moving the disussion back to this year...

When will we be starting the finals?
Is the finals an autodraft, $80 mil? Is there a DH?

hopefully the finals will be an auction (most skilled)
if not, at least it should be a live draft
i believe in any event its 80M DH cannot repeat stadiums

with rules that are as detailed as they are, i was rather suprised to see that the championship round format was not determined in advance.

i'm sure i agree w/ you that the auction is the most "skilled", at least not in terms of SOM skill. The auction does add a new dimension to the game, but the "purest" game on line is the autodraft, as that's the way it was set up on line. in contrast, the auction was the invention of one or more of the players here or of penngray. i'm not sure.

Maybe I just dreamed it, but I think the Champions League rules were in the Tour rules before they were last changed...maybe some of the original rules were unintentionally deleted...?

I think Teepack has since posted somewhere that the finals is a live draft, with draft order and divisions assigned by lotto per normal Tour live draft rules, stadium included in draft but prior stadiums can't be used. Don't recall if it was DH or not.
