I haven't had a team perform this badly since some shipwreck of a theme league I got involved in over in ATG2.

I think I made a bunch of bad picks, but most of these guys seem to have a bad year anyway...

My not-so-experienced two cents: I think the fact that you're getting outhomered is a sign that you may not be using the park to your advantage as much as you could. Ryan's the chief culprit, giving up ten. He's got a fair number of bp homers on his card, so I'd consider dumping his expensive contract for a cheaper junkballer who keeps the ball in the park. Also, I think in general Smalley might have an edge over Franco in in Jack Murphy, but then again it looks like you might have Franco in a good year. And I don't know if Gorman Thomas is available, but he's hit a lot of bombs for me in Jack Murphy.

Well, being a division mate of Sykes' Murphs for 8 seasons in the decade league, I *almost* feel qualified to answer this question, so I'll take a stab at it....but I agree with 1st Commando.....PM Sykes :)

Whenever a team is struggling, look to lose the guy giving you the least bang for your buck. In this case, Ryan is the most expensive, but he looks to be your best pitcher, so I would leave him alone, despite his high salary. I would look at some of your hitters. Pedro and Reggie both look to be underachieving. They are barely on pace for 20 HRs.....at the Murph! Also, Downing hasn't gone deep since you acquired him (66 ABs ago). Unless you know you have a good card from any of them, I would look to replace them with other power hitters. I assume you're playing Pedro at 3B, so I would suggest Evans, Horner, Cey or even a Gross/C. Martinez platoon as possible alternatives. Some cheaper OF/DH possibilities to replace Reggie and Downing include Armas, Gamble, Aikens, Roenicke, Easler, Luzinski and/or Foster.

Reggie, Pedro and Downing happen to be the more obvious power hitters who are underachieving.....but there are other guys on your roster who aren't the best fits for the Murph also. Santiago and Lemon are examples of this. Now, if they were hitting (like Franco) we would leave them alone. But Santiago and Lemon are struggling big time (combined 3 HRs between them and barely a .600 OPS)...so I would replace them. I've seen Ashby and Brenly do major damage in the Murph. Their D isn't nearly as good as Santiago's, but at this point, I would sacrifice the D to get the O. Possible CF replacements for Lemon include G. Thomas (may not be available), Armas, Moseby, or if you wanna go really cheap, a Boston/Bailor platoon.

If you'll notice, all my suggestions are cheaper than the original players you had at those positions. This is because you will need the extra cash to upgrade other areas of your team....most notably, your pitching staff. Considering you are at game 42, there should be no reason (unless this is some kind of theme league) that guys like Stoddard, LaPoint, Butcher, etc are on your roster. I like to call those guys "last resort" type of guys. They shouldn't be used unless all other options are exhausted. Also, guys like Vandeberg and Stanley clearly don't have their good years. You should replace them. Once a player clearly isn't performing, don't be afraid to drop the axe on them. There are plenty of other fish in the sea.

Just be thankful you're not at the point when you get penalized 20% for your add/drops. Remember, unlike ATG, add/drops are encouraged (at least this time of year) in this format. I've seen guys get off to worse starts than yours turnover their entire roster, come back and make the playoffs. So don't give up.

1- While Henke is kicking ass, he's eating a lot of salary coupled with Nolan Ryan. It will be ok to keep both once I look this over a bit more.

FYI - I dropped Kevin Motchell and Traded Molitor for J Cruz
(Molitor was hitting .210 after over 100 PA) Which his how LaPoint got on the team... Molitor/Haas for Cruz/LaPoint... I thought what the hey since Moliutor was doing so poorly...

Brenly and Ashby are both available... Armas, Moseby, G Thomas, Bailor, Boston are all gone.

Bonilla has given me lots of good seasons, he's available at 3rd along with Morland, Oberkfell, Knight, Evans, Mulliniks, Pags...
C. Martinez is not available.

Checking in fast. Work is hell still.

You need some OBP to take advantage of the 3 run HR. ZERO BP singles makes this a pitchers park for OBP. You need guys with tons of natural singles and/or high walk totals.

Knight would do well, as would Griffey to get on base a bit. You should also thin of trying Bo Jackson although his OBP sucks.

Marshall is a rarity where he gets lots of hits and can take advantage of the BPHR. He can DH, RF and 1B.

I'm a huge Puhl fan in Jack Murphy. He can pop 20+ HR in 2 of his 5 years, and gets on base in 4 of 5. I'll try to circle back and give this more attention if I can.

Complete renovation.

Decided I needed some $$$ so dropped Ryan in favor of Ken Forsch. I'm hoping to get Horton's good year again.

Decided Guerrero wasn't worth $7.4 mil hitting .236. I'm thinking he had that '90 year. 240+pa's and only 7hr's... IN JACK MURPHY!!!!

Picked up Puhl, B. Jackson, Griffey, Knight... Trying Petralli at catcher in favor of the underperforming Santiago. Benedict is having a decent year and is a good defensive backup for Petralli. Hope his thrashing of lefties continues. I'm trying Backman at 2B.

If nothing else, I'll get to try these guys out for future reference.
Hate being the league doormat, but if it's gonna happen, Im going to at least have a look at some guys.
