Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Just over 100 games done and I'll give my opinion about a 60 million dollar cap league...

I was curious to see if I could build a team for 60 mil and land enough cheap but good players to allow me to carry some of the more expensive players, so I joined (what the heck...something different). It was amazing to look at the FA list of available players after the draft. I felt like a kid in a candy store.

I've observed the teams who struggled a little and went to the FA more often than I'm sure they wanted to. Cap room and the ability to recover from a bad bunch disappears very rapidly in this scenario.

I was lucky in this league and got the key cheapies who could really make it happen. But even so...it got BORING very quickly. I DID want to make improvements to my team (after all...this is a great part of the FUN of playing strat), but there was no "mad money" to play around with.

I've actually pretty much ignored this team, which is a first for me. No sense in looking for a bargain, or a guy that got dropped to FA to take a chance on...there just isn't the money to really afford it especially after the 10% cap hit kicks in.

I did see a blockbuster trade transpire which was very cool. I thought I would have seen more trading going on than in an 80 mil league...but didn't.

It is very challenging and really tests your knowledge of the cheapie players to tryout, but I would probably not do it again. It just isn't much FUN in my opinion.

I don't think guys whose teams have .650+ winning percentage should be allowed to complain about finding a league boring! :P

I'm quite enjoying this league, but I've got the second best record in the league.

I am sucking hind tit in the basement, and I still enjoy this league .. it has been fun using guys like Tibbs, McCatty, Gale, Benzinger, Dilone, Milt Thompson and a few others I've tried .. I've learned alot about some of these guys.

Enjoy gettin my ass kicked by YF, BC and Jimmy on a daily basis too!!

I enjoy the challenge of the low salary cap. It certainly helps me as I usually have a quick hand on the "dump lever." You really need to see if you have the worst cards before you dump as the salary hits add up quick!

And when you do make a free agent move and it connects, such as my move to drop Hrbek and Guillen for K Mitchell (.615 slugging), it makes the risk/reward process exciting.

Plus the Central is back and forth, with all of us in the race, which is fun/frustrating!
