My understanding is that it was launched this week, essentially the same as Back to the 80s, but in the near future (perhaps a couple of months) some new options would be [i:8addfe7082]added[/i:8addfe7082]. An option in the works is a random set of cards [u:8addfe7082]without[/u:8addfe7082] the mystery.

In the '70s game rules, it says this right now...

What's new this year?

[quote:8addfe7082]To those of you who have played Strat-O-Matic Baseball: Back to the '80s, we're glad to see you again! We're always trying to improve our product to show you the best time we can. In this edition, we've outdone ourselves with the following great new features:
Lineup Depth Charts
You can now assign up to 2 backups for each fielding position in your default lineups, who will be used to substitute for injured starters at the start of a game!

League option: customizable Free Agent Drop Penalty
You now have the option to set up your league so that the percentage of a player's salary that is withheld upon release is different from the default 20%.

Weighted Waivers is now the default
The post-draft Waiver Priority list is now ordered by weight of draft picks lost, instead of just by the count. You can still set up your league to bypass Waivers.

Sort by Balance & Handedness in Player Lists
Sort player lists from 9L Balance to 9R, or vice versa. Or filter by right-handed pitchers only, or switch-hitting batters.

New League Roster Chart page
You can now review the rosters of all 12 teams in your league on one single page. Look under the "League" menu for it!

Sexier Front Office page
Keep up with your league's recent roster moves, and what's going on around the Strat-O-Matic Online universe, all from your Front Office page.

More stats
We've packed our stats displays with as many stats as we could fit.

New Draft/Roster Requirements
You must now carry at least 9 starters on your staff at all times (down from 10 in Btt80s).
You must now carry at least 4 relievers on your staff at all times (down from 5 in Btt80s).
Of those relievers, at least 3 must be "pure" relievers (relievers who cannot also start). [/quote:8addfe7082]

Unless I'm missing something, I don't get the first sentence in the New Draft/Roster Requirements, about the 9 starting pitchers instead of 10.

The 9 starting pitcherss rule is now in ATG too. IT was a pain to have to carry 10 pitchers if you were using a 4 man staff. You had to waste $750k on a SP that would never pitch. this way, you go to 4 SPs and 5 pen, and use the extra roster spot for a position player.

I believe that has to be a misprint. If this is consistent with ATG III, then it means you need 9 pitchers (total) instead of 10 (total). I think there's still a rule requiring 5 starters (maybe that got garbled with the above). And you need only 4 relievers. So you could go with a nine man staff with 5 starters and 4 relievers. Some can also do double duty, but at least 3 need to be "pure" RPs. This is because some ATGII managers were exploiting a kink in the game engine to essentially make five man staff of SP/RPs to do all the starting and all the relieving.

So I think what we have here is basically the ATGIII pitching staff rules adapted to the 70s game. I'll send Bernie an alert about the misprint.

I'm guessing TSN meant to say 9 pitchers on your staff at all times. I have a hard time believing that anyone would have 9 STARTERS on their staff at ANY time.
