My team is in 3rd place after 75 games, 9 out of the divison but only 4 out of the wildcard- I have been waiting for George to come alive and he repays me with an 0-14 series in the metrodome- my stadium I know is affecting him and I know I don't have his worst year, only his second worst- Here is the question - Do you let him go and take the 7.73 million to make a run??????????

It does look more like '91 Brett from the batting line. If you are sure it is '88 Brett, I wouldn't drop him...the dice rolls have got to come around for you.

'88 Brett has very good "positive clutch", so make sure you have a good doubles hitter immediately ahead of him, or a good base-thief so you can maximize your clutch opportunities.

If you know for a fact that you don't have his worst year, I'd keep him. Who can possibly be available on the waiver that can replace Brett at 3B with his 88 stat line and then with the remaining cash, who could you pick up to improve your team?

Besides Brett, where is your team failing and where do you need improvements?

I don't think that Metrodome is limiting him. The ballpark singles are more or less neutral there. HR park effects are ok too.

Personally, I ride the storm on guys who are underperforming but know for a fact that I've got a good card. It's unfortunate that he's put those numbers up so far. Happens to all of us. I've currently got Steve Sax's best year (.332 card), batting him in the 2 hole, and all he's given me in return is a lousy .260 BA after 200 + AB's.

Just like Jimmy C said he's bound to rebound because he's got the card to produce a better stat line.

My friend YountFan used to keep Excel sheets and track his players' progress in different parts of the season. He knew that he had some good cards but the performance didn't match. However, he'd notice that after a rocky cold start, the last half of the season some of his guys would turn on the heat and post 1.000 OPS for the second half. Thusly, bringing his players' overall stats back closer to the mean average of the card.

Personally, I like your odds of getting hot with a decent Brett card in the second half. It's better to be hot at the finish line in a divsion race than ice cold.

good points- The options to replace him are Oberkfell- (not used yet) and yes I am sure it is his 1988 card- the cut would have been swift and painless had it been his bad year- My home stadium is the Astrodome, which with that card especially effects his power- but hovering over the Mendoza line??? I think it is just all of that money I could have available to get new players, but as someone said - at this point what is left?? I think I will ride it out only if to see the stat line for the whole season

There is of course the trade option. If I was in your league and you advertised Brett for trading, and I knew Brett's year, I would send you an offer...
