Question about a few players

Postby help_less » Fri Dec 30, 2005 10:00 pm

Folks,

I have personally not used any of these players 1b Rod Carew, SP Eric Show and RP Don Robinson.

Has anyone had success with any of these players?

None are used much.

Don Robinson is expensive. There are several other cheaper alternatives.

Eric Show is also a bit overpriced.

Carew can be great, but lacks pop and is also expensive, especially if you don't get one of his banner years. (And you have to be patient to figure out which year you have.)

I've only used Robinson. I think he is good. He eats up a lot of innings for me, and does a nice job.

I don't think he is overpriced, but I allocate more to my bullpen than most people.

I have used Carew quite a bit. I didn't look at him for pop, more for the OBP. I have been lucky to get hus better years, including the year he hit some homers. :)
I for one like him.

I've been lucky with Carew, great avg and obp. you just have to make up for the lack of power you'd normally get at 1b somewhere else.

Carew is often great...and he is rarely dangling on the waiver wire.

He is a 2-way star 3 years and a 1-way probable keeper a 4th year. His 5th year he is a probable drop although that card has some value too. That is a lot more than you can say about most of the players in 80s.

I often target him when playing in a pitchers' park. He can be helpful in a HR park but as others have said he usually lacks pop so you'll have to get slugging elsewhere. His 1977 card is one of the best cards in the set in my opinion.

used carew once and he performed well for me...however, I DID have his 77 card, which he underperformed
