I would have just stuck with Oquendo. His worst card still provides a .350 OBP. Thats one reason I like him-no matter how bad his stats are, you know he can't be worse than that and you are just geting bad rolls.

I'm fickle about ballparks.

[quote:68f8af2b51]bjs, let me ask you another question if I may. In your experience of building this kind of team, is there a particular park you think best suits?[/quote:68f8af2b51]

I still think your team would have done just fine at Dodgers if not but for a couple of tweaks. I can't say for certain without access to your whole league's stats to compare what happened.

Looking at your splits told me that you had some problems vs. right handed pitching and that probably hurt you early on and for most of the season as well. However, I do notice that you must have made some decent in season moves to try and compensate for the weakness? Maybe just a little too late. Mullinicks for example?

As far as stadiums go, I really do like Royals though it can be frustrating since most pitchers' WHIPS look uglier there. But I've really been trying to build teams for all the ballparks just so that I can say I've played them all.

I like the Astrodome and Comiskey just as well though. You just need to achieve balance so that you don't have a glaring weakness and your team should perform.

You can also build a solid pitching team with Jack Murphy and Tiger as well.

bjs, you're right on the money. hernandez was the only one who did not struggle against righties, but not enough pop outta the park to help the SLG. guerrero and mulliniks helped, but as you say, too little too late.

next time, if i get oquendo, i'll stick it out with him, too.

One last piece of advice...

Postby bjs73 » Fri Jan 27, 2006 7:56 pm

though it may seem obvious, pitching teams always work best in NO DH leagues.

NO DH leagues take a long time to fill and usually require much advertising. It wouldn't take much to convince me to play one though. :D I'm a NL die-hard.

2 out of the 3 teams that I posted as championship teams were no DH leagues. Just so you know.
