Beckert Reveal

How odd. I had an injury reveal that shows Beckert's 73 season. The odd thing is that 36 games in and he has 2 triples but that year on the card he has 0.

He does have a couple of SINGLE** slots on his cards so maybe he hit that and advanced. Only other thing I can figure is if he hit it off of a pitchers' card but I thought (prob wrongly) a hitter with no triples couldn't do that.

maybe it is some ballpark effect, or I think you can get a three bagger off the X chart

does a 4 rated outfielder not give up a triple on the x-chart? Im not sure but I think he does. It's been a long time since I've checked the charts.

You can definitely get a triple off the X-chart. Also in the CD-ROM version, if a batter hits a double, HAL will occasionally give the batter a chance to stretch a double into a triple (or single to double, triple to inside the park HR). This can happen to a hitter who has no triples. I'm assuming it also applies here as well.
I also heard once that correcting board game excess was not in effect for this game, but I can not confirm if it is true. So it may be possible to get a triple off the pitchers card as well.

In the 70s game, I would say it's almost certain you can get triples off of pitchers' cards. I had Graig Nettles hit 7 triples for me the season he had none for the year in real life. Presently, Don Mincher has 4 triples after half a season, and I have him the year he didn't/shouldn't hit any.

I like to think I'm lucky, but getting that many triples off the X chart (1 chance in 20 against a 4 outfielder) simply defies the odds.
