waiver question

i just finished my first draft and i need a little help with the waiver rules...lets say that i want to drop 1 of my players, hypothetically lets just say i want to drop george brett. my first option to replace him is ernest riles and my second option would be matt nokes. i also want to make a couple of other moves that will depend on my clearing out some salary. can i make my waiver
1. drop brett pick up riles
2. drop brett pick up nokes
3. drop drabek pick up nolan ryan

if riles were snatched up before my turn would i still be able to drop brett and pick up nokes on my first turn or would i have to wait til the 2nd round to drop brett?

In the above scenario, if Riles were taken when it got to your turn, then the Nokes deal gets made with your first waiver pick. If Riles AND Nokes were picked before your pick, then you would get Ryan for Drabek with your first pick.

A lot of new players don't realize they can drop 2 position players BEFORE waivers is run as long as you still have 2 catchers. So in your scenario...you could drop Brett and another position player BEFORE waivers is run to raise money.
