Double Decade League Rules

Postby BC Manager » Sat Sep 12, 2009 8:08 am

To takeover team owned by Seanreflex who is AWOL.

See rules below, first.

Note: this league is different than the Double Double league advertising for an owner in the 70s forum.

Rules

Postby BC Manager » Sat Sep 12, 2009 8:09 am

1. SEASONS

a) The league will be 19 seasons long, beginning in 1971 and ending in 1989.
b) Seasons 1971-79 will be played in the 1970s league format.
c) Seasons 1980-89 will be played in the 1980s league format.

2. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

a) Player eligibility will be based on the seasons on a players card.
b) For a player who has a card in only one format (70s or 80s), their first season will be the first year on their card and their last season will be the last season on their card.
c) For a player who has cards in both 70s and 80s formats, their first season will be the first year on their 70s card and their last season will be their last season on their 80s card.
d) Players whose salary is 0.75 for a format are available every season in the decade for which they are priced at the minimum.
e) If a player is a 0.75 player in one format and not a 0.75 player in the other, they will be available every season for the decade that they have the 0.75 price. Their eligibility in the other decade will span from the beginning or end of decade to the first or last year of eligibility for their 0.75+ card. (See example)

3. DRAFTS

a) The Inception Draft will be a draft of 1971 eligible players only. 0.75 players can be drafted during the Inception draft but can only be kept for one season before becoming free agents again.
b) The Inception Draft will be a snake draft and the order determined randomly (by Pick 3 Lotto results, lowest to highest). It will be a 20-round draft.
c) After each season there will be a Rookie Draft. It will be a draft of players whose first year of eligibility is the upcoming season.
d) The order of the Rookie Draft will be determined by the previous seasons standings/playoffs.
e) The four teams with the worst record will use Pick 3 Lotto numbers to determine the order of the first four picks (lowest to highest) .
f) The next four picks will go to the other teams missing the playoffs, in order of worst record to best.
g) The final four picks will go to the previous season’s playoff teams in this order: semi-final loser with worse record, semi-final loser with better record, final loser and champion.
h) The Rookie Draft will not be a snake draft. Each round will go in the same order, except the first four picks will not be randomized after the first round.
i) The draft will continue until no team wishes to pick any more or there is a consensus to end the draft.
j) Players exclusive to the 80s game whose cards start in the 70s will be eligible for the draft prior to the first year on their card. These players will be considered on a team’s farm team, until they can be used in the 1980 season. (See example).

4. PLAYER OWNERSHIP

a) Players belong to a team as long as they are eligible and they remain on a team’s roster.
b) Between seasons, eligible players’ rights are maintained by the team they finished the season with until the autodraft for the new season.
c) To maintain a player’s rights from one season to the next, the player must be autodrafted at the beginning of the season.
d) There is no maximum or minimum number of players that can be kept from one season to the next.
e) 0.75 priced players are the exception of the above rules. All 0.75 players are eligible every season and available to all teams at the beginning of each season and at any time they are not on a roster.
f) Eligible players not on a team at the end of a season are free agents available to all teams in the next season’s autodraft or any time they are not on a roster.

5. TRANSACTIONS

a) Any trade that is valid in the SOM game is allowed as long as it involves eligible players.
b) Draft picks and future rights to players can be traded.
c) ‘Player-to-be-named-later’ trades are not allowed. The players in a trade must be declared at the time of the trade, though future rights to players can be traded.

6. BALLPARKS

a) Ballparks are owned exclusively – no two teams can have the same ballpark.
b) Ballparks will be drafted as part of the inception draft – any pick can be used to take a ballpark, but one pick must be used for your ballpark before the end of the draft.
c) A team can ‘blow-up” their park once during each decade. That is, a team can declare after a season that they will be giving up their ballpark and then draft from the unused parks in the subsequent rookie draft.
d) Ballparks that exist in both decades can be carried over from one decade to the next.
e) For a team who’s ballpark does not carry over into the 80s, that team must pick a new unused park in the 1980 draft.
f) A team who’s park carries over into the 80s can still choose to discard their 70s park and pick a new park for the 80s.
g) Teams’ ballpark choices under e) or f) will not be considered their “blowup” for either decade.

7. DESIGNATED HITTER

a) Pitchers will hit in seasons 1971 and 72. From 1973 onward a DH will be used.

8. PARTICIPATION

a) Teams participating in the original 80s Decade draft will all have the option of participating in the Double Decade league.
b) Spots not claimed or given up will be given to owners by invitation, not on a first-come, first-serve basis.

9. DIVISIONS

a) Teams will be placed in divisions based on their draft order in the Inception draft: East:1-4-7-10, Central: 2-5-8-11, West: 3-6-9-12.
b) Divisions will remain constant throughout both decades.

We are currently preparing for the 1983 season. The team available was just eliminated from the 1982 playoffs:

Please post if interested or PM me.

Please note we won't be granting the franchise to the first person who expresses interest. We will give preference to an experienced owner with a reputation in this community.

Please don't apply if you often have long stretches where you're unavailable to participate in the draft or be active in the league.

If you haven't been part of a decade-themed league, do consider it. Decade leagues are the best TSN_SOM leagues around (in my humble opinion, having created the them myself Smile ) [/url]

Big, you're in. I let wryoung take the spot in the 70s league, but you get the 80s Decade team.

Welcome and come join us on the Decade League thread. Your pick is actually up but feel free to ask whatever questions you have to clarify anything and review your team before making your pick.
