DOUBLE DECADE 1983 - Full. AD tonight.

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

In 1983 I graduated from HS. That Summer I visited Mexico and caught a 10 foot sailfish off of Acapulco. In the fall I entered Georgia Southern College as a freshman.

One to go and we're full!

In 1983 I turned 9 years old and lived in Columbus Ohio. I remember going to Clippers games and really starting to learn and enjoy the game. I was a big Steve Balboni fan. Don Mattingly played part of the year for the Clippers too. I think 83 is when I started getting into Strat-o-matic too. It's the first year I have the full set of Strat cards, which are still upstairs in a closet.

1983 was a good year. Spent the Summer in Scotland. Started grade 10 and finally grew into my weight. Girls started liking me (I had liked girls for a few years before that). Hit a long-range buzzer-beater to win a meaningless Jr. high school game but still got carried off. Good stuff.

83 was the year I started my 30 year prison sentence for armed bank robbery. Thank God they allow internet access so I can lose myself in Strato. Only 4 more years to go!

Ok, so maybe my real story isn't so dramatic. I was a Jr. in HS in the Pittsburgh area. I had a blast playing HS and Legion ball. Back then Monday Night Baseball was still a big thing since cable was just starting. I remember chasing after big haired girls at keg parties with early U2 playing in the background. Life was good.

So far, we have two DD leagues' autodrafts running tonight. Waivers could be interesting on Saturday.

Waivers for 1983 won't be that interesting due to the lack of availble talent. 1971 won't be terribly interesting either since we hand picked virtually our entire roster already.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to both leagues but waivers won't be the same as in a normal AD league for instance.

HOF is comming

Postby YountFan » Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:36 pm

I will be putting together a list of players for voting for the first class for induction into the [b:94e2365e9d]Double Decade Hall of Fame[/b:94e2365e9d].

Qualification:
Retired
2,500 AB for hitters
1,000 IP for starters
500 IP for relief pitchers

Each manager will vote for uo to 10 players. Players that are receive 75% or more of the vote (named on 9 or more managers HOF ballots) will be inducted. This assumes all 12 managers will vote (13 because we should include Sean)

I think I'll have the ballots emailed to me and then compile the numbers.

Look for more information to come
