Deshaies, Gross, Alexander, Barker, McGregor fall into a category of 80s pitchers who are more likely to fail than succeed in a HR park. There is a large cast of pitchers who join them in this category. Every veteran 80s player has favorites from this category... guys who they rely on when they get a bum Blyleven card. This is a game of probabilities and the primary probability you are dealing with is the chance you will get a good card for your club, in that stadium, with that defense in that league. So while any one of them you pick is likely to fail there are likely 2 from that group who can do well.
I personally have had ok success with Deshaies and Barker but they are not go to guys for me in a pinch. I think Alexander however is probably the most desireable of the group.
