Player Card differences across games

It's no secret that there are some differences in cards across the 70s and 80s games, like 79 Lezcano for example. In most or all of these cases, the overall percentages work out the same, so it's no big deal.

But I just noticed... What's the deal with Steve Garvey 79 having an injury in the 80s game, but no injury in the 70s game?

I know based on his AB, he can not be hurt for more than the remainder of the game, but even still, that seems a bit of an extreme difference to me.
