80'S Reliever Question

Postby cvjs91184 » Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:09 pm

I joined my first back to the 80's league last week and was wondering how important relievers were in this game. I drafted my relievers like I would have in the ATG's, which is all I have played, but with only two categories I don't see how the players not placed in them will be used. Any advice on how to set up the relievers would be greatly appreciated, season starts Monday night.

Generally I go cheap on RP. Henke, Quis, Eck, etc, etc are not worth the extra dough IMO.

If all my RP are about the same salary I don't set anyone to close or set-up until I see how they are pitching.

There are quite a few good .75 relievers. I usually start the season with 4 of them and the 5th guy usually less than 2 mil.
Beyond the .75 guys, there are a lot of good cheap options for under 2 million.
I also do the same thing that Bombers does. Wait until you get a feel as to how good your guys are before you start to assign anyone to the setup/closer role.
