HAL's RP choices

Is there any logic to how HAL uses relief pitchers. I have just started an 80's league and did not set closer or set up man to see what HAL would do. I have Tom Henke and Tim Burke. It has only been 6 games but HAL has used Burke as the closer and he has been lights out. But Henke has never been used, in any role. My other relievers are ok, but several have been used and it seems like Henke, even in his worst year would be used in some role. Is the only way to see what year I have of Henke to make him the closer or set up man? I had Steve Foucault in a 70's league and he was never used so I dropped him and someone else picked him up and he was great. So,... does that mean there is no logic in how HAL uses RP other than closer and set up settings (and mop up, etc)?
