Jim Palmer hit with 15 game injury! (70s)

Postby Larryrickenbacker » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:59 am

Howdy,

In my 4+ years of SOM here at TSN, I've never had a SP go down with an injury to this extreme degree: My staff ace Jim Palmer went down with a [i:795a00bdeb]15 game injury[/i:795a00bdeb] tonight. Have any of you experienced this with a starting pitcher?

Larry

PS: Bob Owchinko wanted a chance to start some games, well..here we go!

I've yet to have it happen (as far as I could remember anyway), but it's certainly possible. I think it happens so rarely because most * pitchers have all or most seasons over 200IP which I believe is the magic number that avoids the big 15 game injury.

The good news is that you know what card you have!

Howdy,

Thanks for the info, Voovits; I didn't realize how the injury reveal went with a *SP. Definitely a Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot moment! I've now checked the "maximum 6 innings per start" box on his card in an attempt to prevent any future injuries, fwiw.
