New Team ..How's it look?

Postby Free Radicals » Wed Apr 05, 2006 1:32 pm

I haven't played BTT80's in a long time . I played 2 terrible teams when I 1st started playing strat and didn't know what I was doing . I'd like to think I've gotten somewhat better than those "1st days" . What does this team look like ? Good , bad , mediocre , ??????

Chicago Nightstalkers :
Div. is Comiskey , Fenway , Dodgers and a good mix the rest of the league .

On pitching, I prefer 4 * pitchers. Boyd and Blue are good if you want to split it up. I like Blue in hitters parks more than pitcher parks. Generally, when I am in a low BPHR park, I value WHIP more than ERA (because the low HRs will help the ERA). In Hitters parks, I concentrate on ERA (because better ERA usually translates to few BPHRs). Blue has an extremely low ERA, but relatively high WHIP. He is still very good for a non-*SP. Boyd is also good, but there are probably better non-*SPs available. Once again, though, I would go with a 4man rotation. Falcone is a good risky fifth starter.

You must upgrade your SS. Get either a 1 or a 2 fielder.

You are not in a power park so I would concentrate on avg, obp and non-HR slg. Nevertheless you want some guys with power. Carter is excellent. Decincess is ok but here may be better guys available: Harrah, Wallach, etc...

I would be tempted to drop all 3 OFs. In Center, Pettis is better than Moreno and usually available if that is the type of player you are looking for. You wan a 1 or 2 in center, preferably with an arm. It is an important fielding position. The other D. Murphy or White could be available and I think are better options. I am assuming that none of the really good CFs are available (it is a very thin position) Moreno does not have a high enough OBP to be effective.

Downing isn' worth the cash-he cant field and he is not that good offensively. Bains is OK for the price. Don't be afraid to use one 4(0) in a corner OF position.

Trade all of your good players to the Jablowmis!

I think you have a pretty nice looking pitching staff, although there is a lot of $ in the 2 non* when combined with two high-priced * SPs. I would try to trade Boyd and/or Blue to someone who is definitely going with a 5 man staff (not me!) and add two * SPs to Guidry and Smith. You do need an upgrade at SS and in the OF.

Good luck and if you decide to move one of the 1B, let me know!

I didn't realize Blue and Boyd weren't * SP . I did notice it after I got them though . Falcone was origianlly penciled in for the pen . I'm going to address a 5th start in waivers . Oh well . I know I need a SS and improvement in the OF . So I did good overall IMO . You saw what I saw . Thanks !

i would drop pettis and Moreno for one good CF. Moseby, Butler, and Armas are decent 2 fielders that will provide a lot more offense for you r team thatn a Pettis/Moreno platoon...

If you need more cash you can drop Cox and use falcone in the rotation - that will free enough money for a Dykstra, Van Slyke, or Lemon...
