Using Ryan means you'll have to use Schrom to start. You'd probably be better off with another "*" starter, in my opinion.

I also don't think you need Pettis. If McGee doesn't work out in CF, you could move Wilson or Dawson over to CF and find a corner OF on waivers later in the year.

I also think you might've spend a little too much on your bp. Unlike '06 and ATG, you can easily get away with 2 or 3 cheapies in the bullpen. (Draw the right .75 card, and you might even be able to find a closer among the bunch.)

With the extra cash, I'd get a better SS, or I might upgrade from Joyner, Wilson, or McGee for a "never cut" player (a player with five solid cards), if any are available.

Get rid of pettis...no need for 4 1's in the of. joyner will be a bust at third...i see you want all 1's but at crucial positions you don't have them. a 1 at first is not that valuable...drop cabell...you have gaetti...get rid of your deadwood and use some of the cash to get another starter if you are going pitching and defense. in a big ballpark d martinez is a stud and mahler does well in big parks for only 3.23 million. i think your pen is fine...but toisan is right you can save money....mcdowell and campbell are not used very often...there must be better values out there...mirabella with the riht settings is a keeper. i only like your 1 & 2 starters...viola is overpriced...as is hurst and schrom is schrom...get some more offense with money cut from 16 players to 13. wilfong or remy are a good platoon with cruz at second if reynolds doesn't work out. if gross is avail he is an inexpensive platoon for a heavy 3L card on gaetti. you need some slugging at first for road games...

hope this helps....you have a nucleus...tought to give advice with out seeing free agent list.

good luck.............ice

hard to give too much advice without knowing what else is available but...

SPs: dump Ryan. A 5 man rotation isnt as bad as people say, but Ryan is. He is too much $ to spend once every five days.

Gooden has 2 years which are not worth the money but he also has, possibly, the best single card of any pitcher. Here is the important thing. IF he gives up 5 runs in each of his first 3 starts, do not dump him. the biggest mistake people do is dumping players after 2 or 3 days (with no injury reveals) (if you dont already know, you can tell what player you have by an injury). Give him a full week at least. Viola is OK for a lefty (overpriced but lefties are scarce). Liebrandt and Deshais are pretty good lefties that are usually available. Viola is better but Hurst certainly is not. Andujar, Forsch, Martinez, Tommy John are good SPs usually available during waivers.

RPs: dump Campell and McDowell. I usually only go with one RP more expensive than 1/1.5 but Lee Smith and Hernandez are both really good. Just set Hernandez to avoid righties now.

Offense: CF is the most important position in the OF. Dawson plays CF. Greenwell is really good but sometimes can't hit lefties. Wilson and Mcgee are overpriced and Pettis is not necessary. An OF of Wilson, McGee and Dawson isnt bad but there are probably some more offensive corner OFs available. Dont be afraid to put a 4 in one of the corner OF positions. I would rather have Dawson in CF and a "2" or "3" in a corner OF position than Mcgee in center and Dawson in a corner. Reggie, Gibson, Tartabull, Mitchell are good OFs usually available during waivers even though they can't field.

Personally, at C there is Carter, Fisk and Tettleton and then a bunch of other guys. Pena is better than 33 if you want to go the "1" route.

Joyner is better than most people say. If Remy or Wilfong are available pick them up (but I doubt they are available). reynolds is fine at 2B. Look into upgrading 3B and/or SS. Harrah and Horner are my preferred 2nd choices (after the 3Bs more likely to be already drafted). At SS, there probably isnt much available but dont be afraid to pair a "3" like Smalley or Franco with Reynolds. In the "2" SS range, I think some of the other sub 1 million guys make better platoons, but you wouldnt be the first person starting Schofield at SS.
