Actually, the unbalanced schedule suggests this should happen more often.
You only play 72 games within your division and 90 outside.
If teams within your division play .500 against each other and beat up on, or get beat up on, by every one else, it's surprising it doesn't happen more often.
Still, a great race is better than no race at all.
