After 10 consecutive 1st place finishes, my '88 (decade League) Hakers brought the great Haker winning streak to an end with a disappointing 4th place finish.

After winning only one championship in the first 7 seasons of the streak (7 straight 1st place finishes during which I missed the playoffs twice as often as I won titles), I was lucky enough to win three consecutive titles at the end.

But now my deal with the devil has expired and it is back to losing. I had 9 out of 10 teams miss the playoffs right before the good streak, so hopefully I am not reverting back to that.

and that is the end of my self-congratulatory post for the week.

10 straight firsts? Very impressive Hak -- especially for one who clearly demonstrates poor management skills at every turn in this game!

I won my 5,000th game in the 80's on Thanksgiving ... and this is the end of MY self congratulatory rant as well.

Good luck Hak, you are a great competitor! Good luck in 1989!

Thanks Sean, and congrats to you for 5,000! That is very impressive. I'm gaining on you though, I'm now ranked 30th and you are at 27th, so I have you in my sights! Look out!

Hak:

Congrats on your great run. I lucked out and inherited a solid team in this league. My team barely made the playoffs, and tried everything in its power to choke (including losing 7 straight and 9 out of 10)...Hopefully the tailspin does not continue into the playoffs. :(

Sean, Congrats on 5,000. :D Hopefully I will get there soon, because there will be fewer leagues once the BTT70s kicks in.

Very impressive Hak, I haven't had that many 1st place finishes period.

Sean you neglected to tell us when you went over 5000 losses,  . Not to bad considering your first couple of teams. You know which ones I am talking about.

Great job! I've been noticing you're at the top of all the leagues I'm in lately. You've come a long way from the team below (which was one of your first teams, if I remember correctly).

YD, that is just mean, mean, mean to bring that team up. Yes, that was my second team, and it was very painful. I was so bad, in fact, that after I made a trade that I thought was a pretty good move on my part, other managers accused the other manager in the trade and I of colluding because it was such a lopsided and unfair trade (meaning I gave away the farm). Yikes, painful memories.

My hearty congrats as well

I've got about a tenth of the wins I need for 5000 and I think even if I play for 100 times as long, I'll still never get 10 first place finishes in a row. These are indeed mightly accomplishments.

I will have to settle for putting on a whoopin' in the leagues we're in together now.

Thank you for bringing up my "UGLY" past as well, Ugly!! As impressive as Hak's 55 win team is, this 2nd team of mine STILL holds the record for most losses in a season in the 80's!!

Did I forget to post that I had 5000 losses too?? Hmm, must have slipped my mind!

Bring on the 70's!!

Hey Sean,

that is pretty ugly, but how about this, I had back-to-back teams lose over 100 games! Here's the other one:
