Eric Plunk Seldom Seen League Chat: 60 game progress report

Postby echo22 » Sun Feb 22, 2009 4:27 pm

I've won back-to-back 80's WS, have 4 credits and nothing better to do

Soooo..................

Have you ever wondered how Eric Plunk would do if he was on your roster the entire season? Have you ever even seen Eric Plunk on a roster after the season starts? And what about shortstop Andres Thomas, who has completed a grand total of 3 seasons in this game? I mean even Luis Rivera has completed 8 seasons! Ever wonder why Billy Sample, Scott Bailes, Mitch Williams, John Moses, Oddibe McDowell, or Eric King get no love? If you are curious this new league is for you!

It's the Eric Plunk Memorial "Seldom Seen" League. You will "live draft" 12 seldom used guys and they must remain on your roster the entire season. Yes you must figure out how to use Eric Plunk or Billy Sample or Marvell Wynne. The other 13 guys you often see will be auto-drafted. They can be traded or waived, but your 12 "Seldom Seen" guys [b:65cba438bd]MUST[/b:65cba438bd] remain on your roster the entire season. It's your job to figure out how to use them. Listed below are the guys nobody ever wants. You will select four pitchers and eight hitters. The hitters are listed by primary position, it's up to you to see what other positions they may be able to play.

[b:65cba438bd]Live Draft & League Rules[/b:65cba438bd]
1) You will select four pitchers and eight hitters. You must select at least 2 starters and 1 PURE reliever, the 4th may be a starter or pure reliever. There are 30 starters and 18 relievers available. Of the 8 hitters you select, one must be a catcher. You CANNOT select more than one catcher. The other seven hitters you draft are up to you.
2) The [b:65cba438bd]MAXIMUM[/b:65cba438bd] number of .75 guys you can select during the live draft is 2. (Note by default everyone will get two because only 24 are listed...sorry for any confusion)
3) You can select whatever position you want each round, but you must draft two starters, one reliever and one catcher.
4) A clock (time to be determined) will be used during the draft. If you do not select within the allotted time the next team may then pick. The person who missed their pick may choose whenever he/she checks in.
5) Draft order will be determined by a randomizer. The team that chooses 1st in rd 1 picks last in rd 2 and then 1st again in rd 3, etc
6) "Seldom Seen" players cannot be cut. Please keep this in mind when drafting.
7) The salary cap will be 80 million. You may select any stadium.
8) After the live draft you will select your remaining 13 players (6 pitchers and 7 hitters) through the autodraft.
9) Any player acquired through the autodraft may be traded or waived. Once again your 12 "Seldom Seen" players CANNOT be waived.
9) All teams must use a 5 man rotation. The MAXIMUM number of SP* you can have is 3. NO pitcher with starter eligibility under 1 million may be used.
10) The league will use a DH.

I noticed that you didn't list a state. What kind of lotto are we doing? Have somebody run a randomizer?

Yes lets use a randomizer instead. The lotto thing confuses me!

My suggestion is to drop the 75m position players because they'll just rot on someones bench. I even go to a 1.5 or 3m floor.

I cut the number of .75 "Seldom Seen" guys to 24, so only 2 per team can be drafted. That should help ease your concerns, but somebody has to carry Anders Thomas :D
