Keeper League is FULL!

Postby coyote303 » Thu Sep 10, 2009 8:47 am

We have four openings for our fourth season of the 70s Keeper League.

Here are the basic rules:

1. You carry over any three players from your previous season's final roster. It can be any three, and your keepers may change from year-to-year.

2. There is a 1-round supplemental draft before the season starts that goes in reverse order of winning percentage with all playoff teams drafting in positions 9-12.

3. Unique stadiums. Non-playoff teams may change their stadium by selecting a stadium in place of their supplemental draft pick. If they do this, they can still pick a player, but their player selection will be made after all other managers have picked. (No one has taken advantage of this option yet!)

4. Teams are grouped in divisions based on winning percentage (disregarding whether they made the playoffs). So, the best four teams play in the East and the worst play in the West.

5. New managers will be able to select their three keepers and make their supplemental draft choice. However, the stadium may only be changed in accordance with #3 above.

I will send each manager the rosters of the four available teams. I will roll two dice for each manager to determine the order of who gets their team choice. Ties will be resolved in favor of who signs up first.

Why join this league?

Postby coyote303 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 8:22 pm

We have a great group of managers.

You get to pick three players that you know you will have coming into the draft--four after the supplemental draft.

It's an easy league to play. Current year keeper league require lots of homework on future players. Not so here.

It makes for some interesting situations where you have to decide to whether to cut one of your keepers who has a subpar year.

If you have a bad year, you get grouped the following season with other managers who had off years.

I'm delighted you're returning. Welcome back!

To those I sent rosters to, Chicago Keepers Vol. 3 is no longer available. However, there are still three other teams, all with good players.

Just to give prospective managers a taste of the players on the three available teams... (you might have trouble picking just 3 on any of them)

Tiger Stadium Team: Stargell, Foster, Dusty Baker, Hebner, Ted Simmons
Fenway Park Team: Dick Allen, Grich, Mays, Tenace, Gossage, Bill Robinson, Wynn
Busch Stadium Team: Seaver, Palmer, Hoerner, Yaz, Otis, Reggie Smith

Just PM me with your email for a full list. There might be some value players you want instead of some of the big-ticket players.
