Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Announcement: No Soup for you.

ATG III is in the works. 2006 will roll out in March as expected. 80's and other mystery card type products get...

/insert crickets here

While I applaud TSN for keeping the existing customer base in mind when providing updates to future products, I feel very ignored, especially when the primary driver to the upgrade of ATG II to ATG III is the addition of more cards. Guess it is too much to ask for the same here in the 80's.

ATG already has over a million cards. Come on we need some fresh blood....errr...I mean cards. I guess the 80's is not a big money maker, but then they don;t really try to make it better to attact more players do they?

Hey, FantaSim got the shaft too  ....

Don't they have enough cards in ATG already? I played a couple of seasons and it was BOOOOOOOORINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG after the draft. We must be in the minority though...ATG2 has 412 guys that have played 10 teams or more  , while 80s only has 158 :( .

I think a lot of it must be the allure of having teams with stars from different eras, rather than wondering if Ken Phelps will be good enough at DH. I'm a child of the 80s so Ken Phelps (and Steve Balboni) are much dearer to my heart than Tris Speaker and Pee Wee Reese...

I think the drafting in ATG can be fun if it is a restrictive theme. It just is boring after the team is created (which is maybe why people play so many ATG teams; so they can have the fun of the draft).

I continue to feel that ATG teams are usless as even if you fell alseep at the keyboard during a frenzy or got kidnapped by a flock of Playboy Playmates until 12 hours before the season started, there is still enough talent left to put together a competitive team.

I'm just bitter that my bringing up of a request for an 80's visit by TSN staff resulted in ATG III without the 80's posts even being acknowledged.

Being one of the managers that has atleast 10 teams in each version (soon to be all all versions, you name it, I played it) I have 85 or so ATG2 teams, and, roughly 12 80's teams.....

Of my 85 ATG2 teams, less than 10 are auto leagues, that means, 75 or so are vet, or theme leagues. If you think a vet league, with the likes of Penngray, petro, Bobby, PJ, Ty Cobb, Nevdully, Munich Man, just to name a few, off the top of my head, is easy, and you can show up 12 hours before the season starts with missing the frenzy/waivers and field a competitive team, your nuts and well on your way to a 100 loss team, promise.

That, is the best way to compare the two versions, getting shafted in an 80's draft, missing the really, truly great players that dont have an off year, is just like being in a vet league in ATG2 against the best of the best, and not making transactions till 12 hours before the start of the season.

Neither one is fun of course.

In order of preference, here, is what formats I like of TSN-SOM

1. Vet/Theme league of ATG
2. Theme league of 80's
3. '05 vet or auto auto league
4. '69 vet or auto league

For me, there is not enough flavor for a theme league in the 200x, or 69 versions.

And, most know, that I TOO have been making suggestions for some time now on upgrades for the 80's, my latest suggestion, is on the suggestion thread, and does not need to be repeated here.

Our friends from TSN seem to have developed a case of amnesia when it comes to the "mystery card" game of Strat. I am becoming very frustrated with the total lack of communication on this subject from the folks at TSN. Maybe the letters ought to stand for "TOTAL SUPPORT...NOT!!"

Leo-

I can't disagree more. I have 61 ATG II teams under my belt. Yeah, it's hard to win w/o Cobb or Pete, but to say that you can't put together a team with Vets is insane. The vets know the values. But you can always compete.

P.S. Only 1 of my 5 championships came in a league of non-vets with that 1 team being with the ESPN leftover who wanted to give ATG 2 a try.

I'm mnot shooting down ATG. Just pointing out that the damn 80's need some attention and/or acknowldgement from TSN.

I fought for 3 months to get the 80's game "ranked" at 100% instead of 90% because it was "older" than ATG2.
