Hitting woes: bushed in Busch

Why isn't my team hitting? I know its early in the season, but should I be making moves yet?

I can give some more details:

Rickey is in one of his first two seasons based on injury.
Jack Clark went down for 9 games due to LO vs RH, so that should put him in one of his last three seasons, except the length of the injury rules out 1988.

BTW, I know that the length of injuries has to do with plate appearances, but I've typically seen it as: if ABs + BB > 600, then the player is limited to 3 games on an injury. But technically, PAs include HBP, sac fly, etc. Is it ABs+BBs or PAs?

its not a good hitters park, but it doesnt look like you have a lot of bad cards. The guys doing the worst-Rickey and Clark are "never drops" with no bad years. Just unlucky roles. You might have Ozzie's worst year but you arent going to do much better with SSs anyway. Murphy is doing too well for a pitchers park for me to think its his bad year. Wait it out.

Your pitchers are doing worse than they should in a pitchers park. Id worry about them more than the hitting.

Move ozzie to the bottom of the lineup if he isnt there already.

For injury calculations PAs = AB + BBs only.

< 600 = 15 games max
600-679 = 3 games max
680-infinity = remainder of game only

Some guys have no injury on their cards. i.e. some of Tony Fernandez's yrs.

I assume you mean the SP, as the relief has been pretty good. You're probably talking about Cox and Tommy John. Would you suggest acting immediately? I usually like to wait until just before the 42nd game to drop, and I doubt people will have much interest in trade.

I would wait too. I usually dont drop anyone, barring injury reveal, till game 40.

One thing to consider are the teams in your dividion mostly RH hitters? Your three top pitchers are lefties.

Eyeballing it, the L to R ratio seems to be 1:2. Which seems about normal for 80s leagues. Maybe I'll consider trying to replace Tommy John with a righty.
