One Mans Junk Is Another Mans Treasure - Season II Thread

Here is an idea for a 2 league theme. Original idea comes from JaserD who did this a couple years ago for the 03 cards. Thought it might be even more interesting with the BTT80s cards.

1 - Normal 80m Autodraft DH League with Waivers

2 - [b:099ac5555c]NO[/b:099ac5555c] Unique Ballparks

3 - Divisions are first-come, first serve

4 - After Season I has concluded we take our [b:099ac5555c]END OF SEASON[/b:099ac5555c] rosters and give them to another owner, who [b:099ac5555c]MUST[/b:099ac5555c] start Season II with that roster.

5 - Whom gets whoses roster is determined as such:

League I Champion gets Worst Records roster (#12)
League I World Series Loser gets 2nd Worst Record (#11)
League I Semi Final Loser #1* gets 3rd Worst (#10)
League I Semi Final Loser #2* gets 4rth Worst (#9)
Best Non Playoff Record gets 5th Worst (#8 )
2nd Best Non Playoff Record gets 6th Worst (#7)
3rd Best Non Playoff Record gets 7th Worst (#6)
4th Best Non Playoff Record gets 8th Worst (#5)
5th Best Non Playoff Record gets Semi Final Loser #2 Roster (#4)
6th Best Non Playoff Record gets Semi Final Loser #1 Roster (#3)
7th Best Non Playoff Record (aka 2nd Worst Record) gets World Series Losers Roster (#2)
8th Best Non Playoff Record (aka Worst Record Overall) gets League Champions Roster (#1)

6 - Divisions for Season II are based on previous season results

1-2-3-4
5-6-7-8
9-10-11-12

7 - Season II is also Normal 80m Autodraft DH League with Waivers (not that it matters since you [b:099ac5555c]MUST[/b:099ac5555c] start season with roster you got from last seasons owner), and NO Unique Ballparks.

8 - [b:099ac5555c]ONCE AND ONLY ONCE 3 Games have been played, and the 95% rule comes into effect, may you make changes to your roster.[/b:099ac5555c]

9 - The [b:099ac5555c]ONLY[/b:099ac5555c] exception(s) are:

(a) is if you needed to add player(s) to reach TSN Regulation(s) to draft.
(b) Trades. [b:099ac5555c]HOWEVER the NEW Owner MUST KEEP the players acquired by trade until AFTER Games 1-3 have been played.[/b:099ac5555c]

10 - 60m Minimum Rule:

If you get a roster whose value is less than 60m you're allowed to add/replace players to ensure your roster has at least 60m starting the season. When replacing players, try to replace players that had the least importance on the Season I squad first (ie bench and role players).

Note: Owners are [b:099ac5555c]STRONGLY DISCOURAGED[/b:099ac5555c] from having fire sales, releasing stud players (who have good cards) or any other action that intentionally damages the value of the roster for Season II.

Trading/releasing a Stud player who has a bad card for an average player who is having a good season [b:099ac5555c]IS[/b:099ac5555c] allowed, as are all other trades/transactions that an owner feels will make their squad more competitive. In other words - use good judgement.

* - Determined by who has better W/L followed by better RS/RA differentials.

Have we decided who's junk that I get. Also do I have to keep the same stadium, or can I change it.

uglyjerry: You can use any stadium you want - even if another owner is using it as well. Since you'll be taking over for penngray, and since his team is in the finals, you won't know what team to get until the Finals conclude. penngray is winning 3 games to 2 going into Game VI.

If penngray wins you get the Hoboken Options, if penngray loses you get my team. Here are links to the two squads:

AT, a suggestion re: waivers. Why don't we have a 2 round, serpentine draft of remaining players (order chosen by lottery)? A 24 player draft will greatly cut down on the luck of the frenzy. These players can either be put into your lineup at the outset or, if you decide, after the 1st 3 games.

Leave it the way it was set-up. You take the other roster and have to leave it that way until games 1-3 are played. Seems simple if you ask me.

Managers just need to be careful when adding those last two players to their autodraft roster, to make SURE that the players that they are selecting aren't on someone else's roster. Most teams have 23 players on them, so most managers will need to add two players currently in the FA pool.

the 24 player "live" draft might be fun --- not that the way it's set up wouldn't be simple.

That was one of the reasons why I gave a link to every roster - so owners could check them if they needed to add any filler players.

Filler players should ideally be .75 players who have mostly bad cards, and they can be released right after the autodraft if desired.

I'll listen to the thoughts of other owners before deciding one way or another on Jablomi's Proposal, or other possible changes.

One other note re: the frenzy - teams like mine, which is under $65M will have an advantage over a team closer to $80M in any frenzy b/c I won't have to drop anybody to get a high-priced player. So, at 10:00 on the MON the league begins, I can easily nab this type of player if I can type fast. Not a lot of skill involved.
