Pondering ATGIII - I need a shrink.

I mostly play the ATG set (about 40 teams in all), but come here to play because I like the mystery card concept. I never play more than 1 btt80's team at a time, but have had up to a dozen ATG teams going at once.

I've played them all (excluding Fantasim) but these two are my favorites.

Glad to see some of you giving the ATGIII game a shot.

Generally, I like BTT 80's better due to the random features of cards, and the fact that most of my real life SOM dice rolling days were with 80's teams and players.

I do however enjoy the other products, but usually find them not as challenging.

I've launched an ATG3 team and have found it a lot of fun. I think a btt80's player is going to have an inherent competitive advantage because we know the later card set, and we are also used to the concept of getting high performance out of less-than-famous players by putting them in the right conditions. Plus you do get to use players who aren't in the 80's card set but who bring back memories. Willie Stargell in a monster year is on my team, for example. And I've got some bargains on 80's players in my lineup: Lynn for .5.49M, Whitaker for 4.14M, Ripkin in his 2nd best year for 6.36M. Grich--not on my team-- is only 5.58 in one of his top years, etc.

Also, it's a place where you can experiment with team-building since, with the teams added to ATG3, there are so darn many players that you can really build any kind of team imaginable in any kind of park. I'm not sure if it will hold my interest once the team gets going, but it was fun to put the team together. My first team is a wacky experiment in platooning, but it just might work. We swept our first series, beating Pete Alexander, Koufax and Denny McClain. That was fun... :D

In two season of 2005 and one of 1969, I had three first place finishes, one championship. I transferred by remaining credit to BTT80s.
In BTT80s, I'm four games above .500 after 12 or 13 teams.
I find this a lot more interesting and challenging.

Anybody got any observations yet about the A2G III game? I played a few A2G II seasons before "converting" to '80s, and I had some success there playing Astrodome ball (good fielding, high OBP, cheaper pitchers with low-whip and high BP home runs). I've seen some observations from the hardcore A2G guys that this kind of smallball will be dead with the new cards and new salary structure, but I'm thinking that might not be necessarily so.

Also, any good bargains located yet? As a Bosox fan, I'm happy to see that El Tiante seems to be nicely underpriced.
