Vote: Btt70s - trading shuffles the year?

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

would it be possible to attach the re-shuffler to the trading menu?

say team A trades has a Ok Schmidt card and team B has a poor G.Brett card the two teams can trade and the guy getting Schmidt can keep the OK card by checking off a box and the G.Brett guy can reshuffle by checking a different box or is that too complex ??

PS trades are impossible in the 80s game now

I disagree.

I usually turn 1-3 trades per league I'm in. One league I had 4. I think managers will turn more trades when offering quality for quality...I do think that helps a lot. Offering garbage players for '85 George Brett will not help turn a trade.

It is a bad idea. It is not the fact the there are bad cards, it is determining what to do with them. There are many so called bad cards that can be useful in some way. As I have say this is not a hunt for the card game, it is a figure out how to use the cards you have. Yes, some have to be dropped, but other just used in a different way.

YF votes no (not that it matters anymore)

the horse is dead, but.........

what about the tie of a player's stats to a given statistical year? if the "brett" card changes, the accuracy of the SIM disappears. glad this is gone.

I'm with Jimmy on this one. I am able to turn 1-3 trades per league as well. You look at the other teams and what they need and try to see if you can provide some quality for them while still getting what you need to improve your team. All part of the fun in being the GM of the team. I probably get reject 75% of the time, but that's okay as well.

I wouldn't have minded this option, except that it would have precluded trading guys with known years (say you have a guy with a good card, well if you trade him he might turn in to a bad card) and could have resulted in lots of churning of guys with only one or two good cards. This probably would work better if there were no injury reveals...(how's that for another can of worms!).

As frustrated as BTT80's has sometimes been for me, I think the format is great. I agree you could open up collusion and a trading frenzy that would never mimic a true season.

I vote to leave the BTT80's rule in place.

Thanks for putting it out to us to have a say.

Thanks for asking our opinions before making a decision.

A few thoughts:

1) In my last league, I drafted Hershiser and he was having a terrible year for me. I traded him and in his first game for the new team and he got hurt revealing that it was his best year! I was just having bad dice rolls. I mention this example, because there already exists the possibility that a player's performance can change during the season.

2) It seems that the fact that there are 37 total topics and the last posted reply being November 3 for FantaSim should give some indication of the acceptance of the idea. (no offense intended, FantaSim was a noble idea).

3) While shuffling [i:c184e6878c]might[/i:c184e6878c] increase trading during the year, I definitely believe that it will cause dropped players to be picked more often.

4) Card shuffling will make tracking player injuries meaningless and, thus, reduce a lot of the in-season work that is created by BBT80.

5) I think trades will only occur using players having subpar seasons or where the injury has revealed the worst card. Guys having good seasons will never be traded. They are now, because known value can be traded for known value.

I truly think it is a point of excellence that Bernie asked his customers' opinion before simply doing something he thought was a good idea.

Thanks Bernie...

I have never had a problem with trading in the 80's and anyone in any of my leagues would be able to attest to that.
