NL team? Obviously, they were an AL team in the '80s (and might I say a thorn in the NY Yankees side as well) but now they are a NL team. I am assuming they would be considered an NL team for this game, which means there are 12 NL teams and 14 AL teams.

Milwaukee-AL

I would consider them an AL team. You are right. There will be two leftover AL teams (Seattle will probably be one of them; I would guess the other would be Cleveland, since, if I remember right, they only had a couple of very good years in the 80s).

I love the two team theme but the free agent rules are WAAAAAAYYYYYY to complicated. :?

If you make the rules a little less complex you probably will see a lot more interest. Just my humble opinion.

Good Luck!

Suggestion on FA, each team is allowed up to 5 players who

did not play for either of their two teams, at any time during the season. All owners can use the entire FA pool at any time. You could even have the 5 players split up as 2or3 hitters and a total of 5 players.

Remember, the key to a winning team at least in the 80's was to have a core nuclelus of home-grown talent (i.e. would be our draft list) and then sign a couple to a few FAs to compliment them.

DRAFT PHASE

Postby honestiago1 » Wed Oct 26, 2005 3:23 pm

Could someone explain to me please the whole idea of choosing a state for the draft lottery? I was just going to assign a color to a specific slot, then have people pick colors. If the color they picked was #1, then that was first draft choice. I will email the colors and their associated numbers to myself and a third party for verification. I will take whatever color is left over.

If no one minds doing this, the colors are: ORANGE, BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, PINK, RED, WHITE, PURPLE, GRAY, BLACK, SILVER, GOLD.

The verification email was sent to jnscott@hotmail.com, and myself at c_eichman@hotmail.com. If there is another neutral, trustwworthy party that everyone agrees on, I will mail them a copy.

IF YOU AGREE WITH THIS STYLE LOTTERY, PLEASE COPY PASTE THE SIGNUP LIST AND PICK A COLOR.

Thanks,
H.I.

The state lottery is the most widely used source for random numbers. All you do is pick a state that has a pick 3 game (most do). You state whether the order will be high to low or low to high. Once everyone picks a state you use that night's numbers. The next morning go to www.lotteryusa.com, or any other source, and you then have a 3 digit number for each state. You can then reorder the draft order in numerical order by lotter result.

You can go to the above website and select a state. If there is a 3 digit result from the prior night's numbers then that state is elligible to be used. A few states do not have a 3 digit lotto number.

FREE AGENCY: Once THE SEASON STARTS, any player listed on a manager's team screen may be picked up.

Can we change this rule to "after the autodraft" instead of once the season starts. That way you could list some of these players on your waiver request form and set up your roster prior to the start of the season. Additionally you won't have to stay up late on opening day waiting for the first series results (opening of the season) to snag that player you are coveting.

I think this would be a good rule change and would be fair to all.

That sounds fair

This will ensure managers get first dibs on their own teams, and allows others to snag. Fortune favors the brave.

I'll have to look into the state thing.

Postby honestiago1 » Wed Oct 26, 2005 5:26 pm

But, unless anyone has a problem with it, I have already listed the color-number combos and sent them to a third party who really has no interest in this. As I cannot choose my own color, I can't cheat (I wouldn't anyway--I've got that much confidence in myself).

If it would make everyone feel better, I will automatically go last in the first round. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

state lotteries are what we have been using for years. Its the most honest and fairest way to decide draft orders.

Dont need to rework the wheel so to speak.
