Raid

Right. Raid guys are any players appearing on non-drafted team screens that also do not appear on either of yours.

Okay, Honestiago, I finally had some time to read through all your rules, and I like it. Question, on the two round draft, will it be serpentine (i.e., whoever picks first in round 1 will pick last in round two, whoever picks last in round 1 picks first in round 2, and so on) ?? This is really the only fair way to pick the teams.

Also, are we using the lottery to determine draft order? If so, does highest or lowest pick 3 get to go first.

Thanks, good theme -- looking forward to it!

Sean

PS: Here's a link to a league that had a similar theme .. didn't have raids and the ability to pick up NDT players, didn't allow trades either as I recall.

Draft is serpentine, lotto, low to high. This is what we did in Am-Nat league. Like this one, the Am-Nat allowed one trade only. So far in that league (24 games in) only four teams have consumated trades.

What I've found from this format is that you have to simply accept some hard facts about your teams. My own combination in Am-Nat has a lot of good players (SF-DET combo). I do not, however, have stunning pitching, nor do I have good arms in the OF, or a decent 3B. I ended up trading aJack Clark for a perhaps subpar Boggs card (it's still early, so I hope it isn't). That team has very little speed, and makes errors. But then, EVERY combo has its weaknesses, so it's cool.

OK, I'm in only cause Sean is in and the link he posted was witness to my last world series ring.... and I hope I don't regret my Boggs trade for Clark to Honest, if he fleeced me I'll start calling him dishonestiago!!!

And if you raid from an undrafted team, does that mean those players really didn't board an airplane that crashed, but rather pulled a reappearing act ala Dr. Drake Remoray's character on "Friends" or to make it more 80s themish, Bobby Ewing on "Dallas"??

By raiding a player that appears on the roster screen for the two undrafted teams you will most likely be taking a player away from some other team(s) that are being used. So if your player only played for one of your teams and one of the undrafted teams don't think he is all yours because he could be raided. This might influence who you put on your AD card! I assume the raid doesn't have to be done prior to the start of the season. You could hold your raid of a NDT player till later in the year when you find out some of your players suck. This would give you 4 team's rosters to look at for a replacement player (your 2 and the 2 undrafted teams).

Raid redux

Postby honestiago1 » Wed Nov 30, 2005 8:41 am

Raids cannot be conducted until after the first day the season begins, i.e., after your first 3-game series is complete. I wanted there to be some sort of risk involved, so it actually requires an investment of dough to pluck a player from the NDT lists.

Jim:
I know the Clark card is one of his walk/HR cards, instead of the .300 year. He had an injury reveal earlier, a lineoutmax, meaning you've got one of his last three years. The worst you can get is the .816 year, w/113 w's, 27 HR's. I'm pretty worried I got the really bad Boggs card. One 2B in 100 AB's sounds pretty foreboding. But if really sucks, I'll just have to go with that Riles/Cabell combo, and use the extra money for somethin' else. Or hell, I can always shift Wade to #2 in the order and let him advance the runner with his A/B bunt, H&R.

Hope the trade works out.
