1st BT 80's Team - Huge Question

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Actually, there is no reason the team you have wont win. It all depends on what you do AFTER the season starts. The teams that win usually adjust the best as the season goes on. It is rarely 'random luck' that determines who wins. That is what makes this form of Strat so great. You can have a bad (unlucky) draft, lots of 'bad' cards to start the season and still hoist the champioship trophy at year end.

Jeez, Outta , you didn't have to mention me by name did you? What's that ??? Oh, you DIDN'T mention me by name ... ooops !!

I don't win consistently (I play way too many theme leagues that I get screwed up with my winning pct), but I am definitely addicted. its a blast !!

Just to keep the car theme going: What can really drive you nuts is that you can think you're driving a Yugo. So after a spin or two around the race track, you dump it to pick up what appears to be a shiny new Farari.

Then you find out the Yugo you just dumped is actually a Farari that had some crud in the gas line or needed a few warm-up laps. It begins to kick everybody's butt.. And the Farari you just bought is, in actual fact, a Yugo.

This is particularly amusing  when the Farari comes back to your own park and beats up on your Yugo.

Car analogy

Postby honestiago1 » Mon Dec 19, 2005 9:46 am

To continue the comparison, it really is about getting the most mileage out of your car for the least amount of money. The beauty in the game is nabbing those low price players who tend to produce enough to start (a Wathan, for example), so that you can devote more resources to other areas. I tend to like high priced SP, so it is a must for me to have good production from middle range players (3-4M) and low-priced players (3M and below, those .75's). As with any car, you do tend to get what you pay for, meaning the high-pricers, in general, will consistently have good years.

To each his own, but the fun part of this game is that you can't be certain you have the right combination from the get go. Games where you have a definite card and set of player ratings are much more about statistical probability than the 80s game, which requires more attention to detail and monitoring of your team. The uncertainty is the point. If you can't handle that, it's best not to play this game.
