I would definitely give Ken Dayley a trial. He's only .75M, he's usually good, and 2 IP is no kind of trial.
Burgmeier is also worth a shot. He's got a good WHIP, which I look at more the ERA, esp. in Royals. Just remember he's usually only really good vs LH, so set his avoid RH button. In general look for cheap, low WHIP (in most of their real years) relievers discarded with low IP. Most of the good ones are on somebody's roster before the season starts, so picking up dumped FA's is the best way to improve your bullpen cheap. The risk is small and the potential payoff great.
Now here a little story, all about Chuck Crim. I started the season with Crim on a current team. He got hammered in his first several outings and had an ERA over 10. But HAL kept wanting to use him and that suggested he was in a good year. I put some controls on his card but didn't dump him. HAL kept going to him and he kept getting people out. I gradually loosened the controls and HAL used him even more. Most recently, over a 16 game period, HAL used him 10 times. He pitched 22.2 IP and had a 1.59 ERA for that stretch. I'm at game 123 and beginning to realize that he may be my best RP. Patience isn't always rewarded, but sometimes its worth the wait.
