70's Declining in popularity?

Postby free4allfree2001 » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:24 pm

I saw this post awhile back and didn't think much about it. But we have been trying to fill a 70's no DH league for over 2 weeks. We are stuck at 7 teams. I know no DH take longer, but never this long.

Maybe SOM should run a special like they did a while back. 5 for $75, Buy one get one free, buy 2 get the third one free.

As a dedicated SOM player, I am concerned. What say you!

I just don't think its unique to the 70's game.. There has been more discussion about this on the ATG message board. Players are trying to come up with theme leagues, new card selections, etc. to try and get more activity yet it isn't working that well. I signed up to play in a theme league where you only use players born in a certain month and we seem to have more guys dropping out who signed up than we are to actually getting a group of 12 together.

I agree that in the dog days of summer it would be nice of TSN to run some sort of special...however I wonder at times given the many fantasy games offered here if SOM is of great concern from a revenue generating standpoint.

[quote:87c08e7554="latorrer"]They should lower the team fee. Offer some discounted 5 packs and watch the leagues fill up.[/quote:87c08e7554]I second that emotion....

Popularity of 70's leagues

Postby Whamo » Thu Jul 23, 2009 8:35 pm

I've been playing a lot of 69' leagues, but participation has dropped a lot. It's also getting harder to pick a good team. Everyone knows the best players to pick, and there's little to work with if you're not lucky.
I've just started playing 70's teams, and I like it. I'll be playing a few more before I get bored, I'm sure.

Howdy,

Money is tight for us and I may not be purchasing another team 'till the holidays. Now if TSN offered "2 fer 1" or other price reductions, who knows?
