Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

7 teams, only 2 playoffs

Postby honestiago1 » Thu Feb 02, 2006 8:49 am

Best I've gotten is 91 victories, and one championship. Have a 90-win team in the finals right now, but I am playing the best team in the league (however, with a rotation of Clemens, Soto, Higuera [all good cards], I like my chances). That 5-game series is a minefield. A team gets hot, or its stud pitchers suddenly come through, then anything can happen.

Even the Braves won a World Series...

15 completed teams, 7 playoffs, 2 finals, 0 championships :( ...
15-27 record in the playoffs. Hopefully my current team (33-18 early on) can break the streak :| I seem to be good at building teams that make the playoffs with low 90 win totals then get creamed in the playoffs. I think I have the highest manager rating in the 80s without winning a championship. I'd much prefer to win a few and get the extra credits!

I saw a thread to whine about my 1980's luck so I thought I would jump on the band wagon.

I have 6 out of 9 teams that made the playoffs. Three of those teams with 100+ wins. Only two teams have made the finals and I lost both of those. I am playing at a .554 clip in the 1980's, but can't come through in the playoffs.

I realize alot of it comes down to luck, because I have a very good record in ATGII of winning titles at close to a 50% clip when I make the playoffs, so it evens out eventually someplace.

Death by panzerace

Postby honestiago1 » Fri Feb 10, 2006 12:43 pm

My 90-win team lost three straight to drop the series, all one-run games. A great series (no game decided by more than 3 runs), but panzerace's guys got the job done (was there ever any doubt)? Had a game where Clemens walked 10 batters, yet threw 8 innings (12 K's). Go figure.
