Gawd I hate losing.....

Postby echo22 » Fri Jan 15, 2010 7:42 pm

Not only do my tourney teams suck but it has carried over to my non-tourney teams. The frustration has literally brought me to tears as I'm not used to having bad teams.

My 70's team is especially awful. First I missed out on most of the guys I wanted in the autodraft. Still I thouht I had a few decent pieces and thought I would be competitive. Almost everyone underperformed and most have been replaced and replaced again. I'm 13-20, a stellar 4-11 at home and am on pace to give up 400+ HRs. I can't hit and cant pitch. The only good card I have is Buford. On a hitting team like mine was suppose to be Buford should be about my 6th best hitter! Everyone just kicks my butt. I'm so going to lose 100 games and I've never even lost 90 in one season.

My 80's team? Well it should be good but it's a rather mediocre 16-17 at the moment. I lead the league in HRs but my pitching has been horrible. Especially my bullpen who blow game after game. I really need this team to make the playoffs but it doesn't look good when the rich (defending champ hailedog) keeps getting every cheapies best card and waiver wire gifts like Clemens.

So the chances of me reaching the F12 again are about as good as chess reaching the F12.

Whoooo Hooooooooo. Just climbed my way up to .500!!!!!!!!!!Just saying. Tied for 30th is way more fun than being 55th where I was early on.

And watch it Jen. Chess' 7-23 (70s)team just picked up a sweep last night to go 10-23 and things are looking up for him. Thats where you look when you,re 10-23.(LOL) JJ Chess.

Well i liked my 70s team better than the 80s on paper, but they have flip-flopped records, 15-21 and 21-15. To boot the 70s team is -67, [b:9545be2f99]yes -67 [/b:9545be2f99]in run differential. Injuries - I have cycled through Fisk and Porter at C, Gross 4th or 5th year - gone, Luzinski 1 HR in 123 AB - gone, Clark 0HR in 77 AB - gone. Pitching - Leonard gone, Pattin gone, Forsch who was Leonard's replacement 0-3 with a 12.7 era and 2.29 whip - gone.

I am usually pretty patient but not with this team. Have I vented enough? Manager - gone, GM - gone. Take it HAL.

Serioulsy I am having a blast in this competition.

THE MORNING AFTER FOLLOW UP:

The 3 offensive guys I pick up (Hisle (1st time ever), Matthews and Almon (salary saver)) combine to go 1 for 35. Almon had to get 11 ABs cause both my SS's were injured. Larry may be on the market before the day is done.

My 70's team is now on a 5-19 run. I'm 6-18 at home. I'm going through players like babies go through diapers.

Nothing like the stench of a discarded Diva player!

My 70's team is on a 2-14 run. I have Allen, Bench, Killebrew and Clemente with good cards, playing in Wrigley. Can't seem to find quality pitching even by trading one of these guys. My ERA is almost at 7.00 . I'm beginning to think that power is overrated as I can't complain a whole lot with my 80's team being dead last in homers but first in runs scored. May this team somehow turn it around and good luck to everyone.

How's this for a boxscore?
I was on the winning side, but unfortunately for papasturgeon, someone had to lose.

depressed as well

Postby chrisfu » Tue Feb 02, 2010 12:59 am

Since my last post, my teams are both in the process of crashing. I didn't expect much from my 80's team but my 70's team l thought would hang on. I have never seen a player like this: Juan Marichal won his first 12 games, not his first 12 decisions, his first 12 starts period. He is not 12-8. He just sucks. How do you go from winning your first 12 starts to sucking like this? Who knew I should have dropped him when he was 12-0?

Chrisfu, let us look at the bright side of things:

1. You are #35, only 10 points out of the Final 12 with 2 full leagues to go.
Going to a playoff will give you bonus points, so one Final appearance gets you another 10 points and you would be there.

2. I have come from #57 to #35 and my 2 teams still suck. I plan on making the final 12, #7 specifically, so if I can do it, you can do it!

3. Marichal gets bonus $$$$ for 12 wins according to his contract, so he is probably thinking white sands, blue water, and bikini girls. Tough luck there, in that he already achieved hisi goals. Next time, trade him at 10-0 or 11-0 to an unsuspecting clown in your league.

4. Many of the teams are bunched around or under .500. Take a close luck at your team and see where you need improvement. Think "trade" with another hard luck manager and maybe you can start a streak.

It is too early to lament. You were excited when you were in the top 10, so get excited again! This season has over 70 games left and we have 2 more full leagues!
